The BlindianProject is a collective of dreamers, healers, visionaries, and thought-leaders. We aim to inspire the Global Majority through creative storytelling and placemaking to live unapologetically and authentically. ​ To date, our work has been featured in international publications such as The BBC World News, The Lily (Washington Post), Psychology Today, The Times of India, BBC Asian Network, and many others.

    Hopes & Dreams: My Girlfriend Was Sent Back to India. I Just Want to Know She's Alright.

    In July 2020, a gentleman named Peri contacted us on Facebook. He'd heard of the BlindianProject from friends and wanted to share his story about his girlfriend Priya, who was coerced to return to India to support family members who were supposedly ill. Peri knew something was foul from everything that happened before her trip. Despite warning Priya not to go, she believed her family, and Peri hasn't seen her physically since. After speaking with Karma Nirvana, the Forced Marriage Unit, and other organizations, without any luck, Peri hoped our conversation might help provide some closure or help anyone else in a similar situation.

    Dr Jennifer Noble (IG: @drjennpsych) is an African American/Sri Lankan, Clinical psychologist from the California School of Professional Psychology. She has two speciality areas – children and adolescents/teens and multicultural community clinical psychology. This episode features Saket Soni, author and founder of Resilience Force. In 2006, following Hurricane Katrina, Saket Soni uncovered "one of the largest cases of forced labor in modern U.S. history," involving several hundred Indian men promised careers and green cards.     Unlearning antiBlackness In South Asian Communities

    The #BlindianProject podcast is brought to you by the #BlindianProject and hosted by Jonah Batambuze and co-hosts Nimal Jude and Arion Lawrence. It's a show that uses love to redefine relationships between Black x South Asian communities.  In episode 3, we sit down with Indian-Canadian journalist Dhruva Balram, to discuss antiBlackness within the South Asian community. Balram is culture writer well-known for publishing a series of articles on the subject. His work has been featured in, GQ, NPR, Dazed, Huck and other leading publications. After experiencing antiBlackness as a youngster, Balram found inspiration to investigate the issue further.  "Around 2015, I was spending time with my grandmother in India. She made a passing comment about how dark I'd gotten because I'd spent some time at the beaches. That's when I realized this behavior hadn't changed, and I set off on my journey that continues to this day."  Join us as we talk through the basis for antiBlackness in the South Asian community, and how we can help unlearn this complex issue.
