Choosing Sustainable Work: When Your Calling Doesn’t Fit the System

In this solo episode of Blissful Connections, I shared openly about a major work transition I’m moving through — and why it reflects a much larger conversation about sustainability, accessibility, and purpose. I talked about recently wrapping up a seasonal role with Lighthouse Works, supporting The Assistance Fund, where I worked with patients facing serious, high-risk illnesses and extremely expensive medications. While the work was meaningful, it was also emotionally demanding. Many calls involved navigating strict HIPAA restrictions, speaking with people in crisis, and delivering difficult news when assistance was denied due to limited funding. This experience reinforced something important for me: crisis-driven healthcare call center work is not sustainable long-term — especially for someone who leads with empathy and emotional presence. I also shared how accessibility barriers continue to shape employment opportunities for blind and disabled people, contributing to the persistently high unemployment rate in our community. Inaccessible platforms, systems, and workflows still prevent many qualified individuals from thriving in traditional roles. This episode explored the difference between meaningful work and sustainable work — and why honoring our limits without shame is essential for long-term impact. I reflected on how these realizations have led me to recommit to the work that truly fits me: Blissful Connections, advocacy, speaking, and one-on-one coaching focused on emotional safety, clarity, and life transitions. This wasn’t just a conversation about jobs — it was about choosing alignment over exhaustion, purpose over pressure, and building a life that allows us to keep showing up without burning out. After the Dream: What Do We Do Now?

This episode was a grounded, reflective conversation about what happens after inspiration fades — after the dream, after the moment, after the emotional high. Following the previous MLK Day episode, I focused this solo show on integration — the often-overlooked work of turning inspiration into steady, meaningful change. Being moved is powerful, but transformation happens when we apply what we’ve learned consistently and honestly in our everyday lives. Throughout the episode, I explored the difference between emotional highs and lasting growth, emphasizing that real change doesn’t come from hype or perfection, but from patience, direction, and self-trust. Growth is rarely dramatic. More often, it’s quiet, uncomfortable, and deeply human. Inside this episode, I talked about: Why inspiration alone doesn’t guarantee transformation The importance of steady progress over chasing emotional highs How emotional safety and authenticity support long-term growth Why struggle and imperfection are part of meaningful development Letting go of comparison and trusting your own pace I also shared personal reflections on balancing purpose-driven work with real-life responsibilities, and why choosing direction over deadlines has become a core value behind Blissful Connections. If you want to go deeper beyond the podcast, I shared more about Blissful Connections Premium, my one-on-one coaching space for people who want intentional, private support as they integrate growth into their lives. 👉 Book a call to learn more about Blissful Connections Premium If you’d like to join future episodes live and receive the stream + Zoom call info, make sure you’re on the opt-in list. 👉 Opt in for next week’s show and get live access If this episode resonated with you and you’d like to support the show, please look for the tip jar toward the end of the episode page — every contribution helps keep Blissful Connections on the air and growing. The Dream, Revisited: Dignity, Justice, and the Power of Connection

This special Martin Luther King Jr. Day episode was a reflective and meaningful conversation about what the dream represents today — not just historically, but relationally, emotionally, and spiritually. Rather than treating Dr. King’s legacy as something frozen in time, I explored how his vision continues to live on through dignity, justice, empathy, and human connection — the very heart of Blissful Connections. Throughout the episode, I reflected on how civil rights work is not only systemic, but deeply relational. True progress doesn’t happen solely through laws; it happens in everyday moments — in how we listen, how we respect differences, and how we create emotional safety for one another. We talked about: How the dream was rooted in human dignity , not just policy Why justice requires love, courage, and conscience , not retaliation How civil rights show up in daily relationships, not just history books The importance of inclusion across race, disability, neurodivergence, and lived experience This episode also connected Dr. King’s unfinished dream to the ongoing mission of Blissful Connections — helping people build healthier, more compassionate relationships in a divided world. I was deeply grateful for the community that showed up for this conversation. A special thank you to my grandmother for her generous $50 tip to the show — your love and support mean more than words 💛. 🎄 A Very Blissful Christmas: Faith, Family & Finding Peace

In this special Christmas edition of Blissful Connections, I slowed things down and held space for what this season is really about — faith, family, health, and choosing peace in the middle of a busy world. This episode wasn’t about perfection or pressure. It was about presence. I talked openly about how Christmas can bring up joy and stress, especially around family dynamics, expectations, and emotional overload. We explored how peace is something we intentionally protect — not something that magically appears just because it’s December. I was also joined during the show by Leeanna Porter, who shared her powerful personal journey of healing and wellness, including how prioritizing nervous system regulation, faith, and natural solutions completely changed her health and life. Her story was a reminder that our bodies, minds, and spirits are deeply connected — and that healing is possible, even after years of struggle. ✨ What we talked about: Choosing presence over pressure during Christmas Faith as an anchor during stressful seasons Navigating family gatherings with grace and boundaries Protecting your peace when emotions run high Health, healing, and listening to your body Why meaningful support is a better gift than “stuff” This conversation was gentle, honest, and grounding — exactly what this season calls for. 🎁 Give the Gift of Blissful Connections Premium This Christmas, I’m offering something different. Finding Purpose in Life’s Second Act — Intuition, Clarity & What’s Next

In last night’s episode of Blissful Connections, I sat down with Anna Quigley for a deep, grounding conversation about purpose, intuition, and navigating life transitions — especially when life looks “good on paper,” but something inside is calling for more. This was a powerful, steady conversation with far fewer tech hiccups, and one that felt especially aligned as we move toward the end of the year. Anna brings both heart and practicality to the idea of a “second act,” reminding us that purpose doesn’t require burning everything down — it’s often revealed through stillness, reflection, and listening inward. We talked about how intuition is available to everyone, how to begin trusting it without overwhelm, and how small daily practices can build clarity over time. Anna also shared the inspiration behind her Second Act Success Workbook, a self-reflection tool designed to help people identify their core values, innate gifts, and the next steps on their journey — without pressure or rush. I also shared more of my own journey, from navigating accessibility challenges in broadcasting to building Real Variety Radio and creating Blissful Connections Premium, where I support clients one-on-one as they navigate purpose, identity, relationships, and life transitions off the air. This episode bridges spiritual insight and practical tools, showing how intuition, science, and faith can work together to guide us toward a more aligned and meaningful life. In this episode, we explore: What a “second act” really means in midlife and transition seasons How to reconnect with intuition and inner guidance Why restlessness is often information, not failure Simple ways to build trust in intuition through daily practices How purpose unfolds gradually — not through pressure or comparison Using reflection tools to identify core values and innate gifts Connect with Anna Quigley Learn more about Anna’s coaching, speaking, and purpose-driven work:👉 Journey to Purpose — Visit Anna’s Website Download the Second Act Success Workbook, a free self-reflection tool to support clarity and intuition:👉 Second Act Success Workbook — Get the Workbook Continue the Conversation with Me If this episode stirred something deeper for you and you’re looking for personalized, off-air support, I offer private one-on-one coaching through Blissful Connections Premium. 👉 Book a Discovery Call with MeSchedule a Call Join the Live Show Blissful Connections airs live every Monday night on Real Variety Radio, with audience participation via Zoom and phone. 👉 Get live show links & remindersBlissful Connections Opt-In Page If you’re able, please consider supporting the show when prompted on this page. Holiday Peace & Emotional Connection: Slowing Down in a Fast Season

Episode Summary In this episode of Blissful Connections, I stepped into the holiday season with an honest, heart-centered conversation about emotional grounding, connection, and what it really means to stay centered in December. After the incredible wisdom shared in Episode 34 with Rosemary Olender, I felt deeply inspired to expand on her message of emotional richness — especially during one of the most intense and pressure-filled times of the year. The holidays bring out everything: joy, nostalgia, expectations, stress, old memories, family dynamics, loneliness, and pressure to “perform” emotionally. Tonight, I talked about slowing down, choosing peace, honoring your emotional bandwidth, and releasing the perfectionism that so often steals the magic out of the season. We explored how to navigate family dynamics, protect your energy, and bring meaning back into rituals without overextending emotionally or financially. I also reflected on my own family traditions, what this season means to me, and how emotional presence — not material gifts — is the real richness we can offer ourselves and each other. Listeners were invited to reflect on their own experiences, share what brings them peace, and identify which traditions they want to keep, modify, or gently let go of this year. This episode sets the tone for a holiday season grounded in connection, gratitude, and emotional alignment. Topics Covered in This Episode Why December intensifies emotions — both beautiful and heavy Choosing connection over perfection Setting healthy boundaries during holiday gatherings Managing holiday stress, expectations, and emotional regression Protecting your peace while staying open to meaningful moments The difference between emotional richness and material wealth How to create small, grounding rituals during the holidays Audience reflections on holiday emotions and traditions Integrating Rosemary Olender’s wisdom into the season Preparing the heart for Christmas with intention and compassion Links & Resources Join Blissful Connections Live Each Week Receive weekly access to the livestream and Zoom call:👉 Blissful Connections Opt-In Page Learn More About My Work & Episodes Explore past episodes, show info, and Real Variety Radio:👉 Blissful Connections Website Interested in Personalized Coaching?
