Welcome back to Bolder Views, we took a small hiatus and launching more partnerships and programs to support more women in their businesses and at work. Today, we have a special guest to re-launch our podcast! Michelle Curran has led an impressive career as a Fighter Pilot during her 13 years in the United States Air Force. From 2019-2021, she flew as the only female pilot for the Air Force Thunderbirds and performed for millions across the country and internationally. Michelle was also named the Distinguished Alumna of the Year by the University of St. Thomas in 2021. She has been featured on several well-known media platforms, including The Kelly Clarkson Show, CBS Evening News, and Glamour. Before joining the Thunderbirds, Michelle was a combat proven fighter pilot completing missions across Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. She has a passion for pushing her limits, inspiring others, and changing lives. She has inspired thousands through her passion for breaking barriers and setting the example of what can be accomplished through handwork. Retention of Women at Work

Meet Erica Ballard, CEO + Founder of retainHER, sharing insights and considerations for women in the workplace. Erica is a champion for moms at work, and we also expanded the discussion to worthiness, health, and self-priorities. Erica describes herself as a woman who jumped from job to job – hoping to find a company that let her be herself while doing work that mattered. She never found that place, which is why she left the corporate world to start a business to change that for other women. retainHER provides the data insights companies need to retain, recruit and advance women. Unlike other workplace solutions that focus solely on workplace behaviors, retainHER addresses the whole company and woman. Because we understand that women's career decisions are based on what they need as a person first and as an employee second. In addition to retainHER, Erica runs a successful life and career coaching practice. Prior to working for herself, Erica spent ten years in the public health sector. She has a MS from Tufts University School of Medicine and got her BA in Journalism from Indiana University. While a Hoosier at heart, Erica currently lives in Denver with her husband, daughter, and pup. Conversational Leadership

Conversational Leadership and my Bold Question framework initiates our discussions around leadership theories. If you are trying to find ways to develop your team, create more collaborative discussions, initiate accountability for work, uncover hidden potential in people, or cultivate intelligence within yourself, your team, or your organization, then this is a great discussion for you. I share a 4-step framework to consistently build bold questions invoking your conversational leadership style. Questions are more transforming than answers, and if you want an innovative team/organization/you, then you must engage in creative thinking. Creative thinking provides ideas, but it can only begin with the art of the question. I am teaching a workshop about Conversational Leadership at the end of June 2022, so please follow our LinkedIn page for more details and ticket information, select https://bit.ly/3NtqsOQ . Ideas Bias within Culture

Idea Bias prevalent in culture, and how these two concepts influence each other. We believe the framework of culture must include a way to evolve, flex, grow, impact, and be worthy. Bias is defined as a mental shortcut based on ease and efficiency. It can often result in the brain making the wrong decision or preferring answers and ideas that are less creative. When we endure an idea bias within our work cultures, employees are 2.5X more likely to withhold an idea or solution. When we do not accept one’s thoughts or approaches, you minimize the effectiveness of your organization for a long period of time. It is the proverbial “lid” on your capabilities, growth, and momentum. Be open to new ideas, enable new hires to broaden everyone’s perspectives, accept the fact that your way of doing things for the last 15 years, may not be the best path moving forward. When change starts to happen, and it may be difficult or uncomfortable, doesn’t mean it isn’t worthy of effort or that it is damaging the culture. Perhaps your culture needs to ‘refresh’ and ‘recharge’ through the genuine ideas and thoughtfulness of others. This may be your only way to expand your influence with your brand, marketplace, or your community. If you find yourself feeling that your ideas are not being given adequate consideration or you feel silenced within your culture, I offer 3 steps to help you. So for anyone who considers themselves a big idea person, who might have to play outside the sandbox, or often perceived as outside the culture, stay true to your values, ideas, and voice. They matter, and always be committed to transparency. Be a guest on our podcast, Bolder Views. Meaningful Work

This is such an exciting moment for me! I met Saundra Schrock almost 20 years ago, and she is just as supportive, innovative, and transparent as she was then. I love her witty humor and how she shifts the energy in a room to one of positivity. It is one of her many unique gifts. Through our discussion, we deliver a blueprint about "Meaningful Work". Saundra has an extraordinary background, spending 30 years at JPMorgan Chase, responsible for 30,000 employees, authored a book, "Thriving in a Global Pandemic and Beyond" (you can purchase on Amazon, link below), and now as Founder and CEO of Levelhead, supports the workplace by delivering mindfulness-based programs and higher education via a digital engagement platform. Saundra is a visionary, and we are honored to have spent time discussing workplace topics. Meaningful Work is a critical milestone for talent development. Our contributions matter, but we must have meaningful work to connect and deliver impact. In our conversation, we explore • What it looks like • How we should/can contribute • As leaders what you should consider when building the right environments I hope you learn as much as I did with Saundra's transparency about the world of work, and as a CEO things you should consider with this new transition of work/life blend. You may order Saundra's book at https://www.amazon.com/s?k=thriving+in+a+global+pandemic&crid=WQABRPY1J8AX&sprefix=thriving+in+a+global+pandemic%2Caps%2C101&ref=nb_sb_noss If you haven't done so already, please follow + share the podcast.
