    Where the Crawdads Sing

    Where the Crawdads Sing

Raven and Ginnye are going way out yonder this episode for their second read, “Where the Crawdads Sing” by Delia Owens. This was such a good read, no wonder Reese Witherspoon picked this book for her book club! We try to keep this one spoiler clean, but it was tough! We definitely recommend reading this pick if you haven’t already.
We discuss what it means to be poor, beautiful, black, and ‘swamp trash’ during the 50s - 70s, what happens when nature is doing the nurturing, and how much we F*****G HATE CHASE ANDREWS. We probably talk about that last one a bit too much, but he is seriously the worst.

    Stephen King's IT

    Stephen King's IT

Your wildest horrors come true this week as we discuss Stephen King's "IT." We take a step out of Ginnye's comfort-zone and delve right into Raven's f****d up mind with this pick. Raven introduces her best friend to this nightmare inducing novel, which is the subject of a mini-series and an extremely popular film reboot (IT Chapter 2 comes out September 6th).
We have clowns, we have the problematic portrayal of women and children, we have an egotistical writer, we have horrifying scenes that do nothing to move forward the plot. We honestly have it all!

Wish they would discuss spoilers.

I really enjoyed their discussions, but they tend to shy away from spoilers. I think the spoilers would lead to a deeper, more thoughtful, & more compehensive discussion. And example of this would be on the swampLandia episode,They shied away from some major plot points that they called spoilers but these episodes were the heart of the book. I think that if they post a podcast and a person hasnt finished the book yet, the person should avoid listening until they finish the book. then there would be no spoilers, & everyone wins :)
