Bookstore Brew

Trent McGee

Bookstore Brew with Trent McGee is a Tuesday/Wednesday/Friday morning show for college football, the best (worst) of social media, and whatever else is happening that day — all over a cup of coffee and a rotating cast of way too many college mugs. Trent (also of Kirkwood & Dunn) does the doom scrolling so you don't have to, then breaks down the football and the day's biggest storylines to go with your coffee. New episodes every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday morning. Bookstore is part of Kirkwood and Dunn.

Dublin Game Curse, Curt Cignetti State Farm Commercial & Indiana Football Culture

Eight days until Indiana football and the Trinity College Dublin mug is out. Trent makes the case that the Dublin game is cursed — Scott Frost lost to Northwestern and Nebraska went four and eight, Florida State lost to Georgia Tech and completely collapsed the following season, Kansas State played Iowa State and Avery Johnson's dad started fighting in the stands. North Carolina and TCU are both playing for their coaches' jobs tomorrow and neither one knows it yet. Then the Cignetti All State commercial is out — three people sent it the same morning — and Trent breaks down what it signals about where fall camp actually stands. A CBS Sports clip with Charlie Becker, Carter Smith, Bones Jones, and Tyrique Tucker reveals more about Indiana's locker room culture than any press conference quote: Charlie Becker can joke about his teammate with a camera in his face and not worry about the reaction. Fortune 500 companies pay millions of dollars to build what Cignetti has built. Then listener comments from the villain episode — CTO wants Ohio State to come to Bloomington undefeated and get blown out, Baby Ice makes a case for Indiana's DBs having their best year yet despite losing D'Angelo Ponds, and Scott gets called out for complaining about the position group rankings. Indiana Football Gameday Superstitions, College Football Hate Watch Rankings & SEC Big Ten Eligibility Update

It's week zero week and Trent built a college football hate watch power ranking at 5:25 AM — ten teams, one list, and a number one pick that will make a very large fanbase very angry. You'll agree with most of it. You'll argue about at least two. From a mandatory Purdue placement at the bottom to coaches who yell at producers and complain about time zones, it's the definitive preseason hate watch guide. Then it's a listener's superstition question — do you carry your gameday traditions into chapter three or start fresh? Trent says keep everything going until they lose, his gameday vibe video and podcast link email are non-negotiable, and Marissa's jersey is getting washed which means he's already identified his scapegoat. Joey Galloway doesn't have Indiana in the playoff (predictable). Cignetti confirms Grant Wilson leads the backup QB battle over Tyler Cherry with Jacob Bell also in the mix. A home vs away chart shows USC and Washington as two of the worst road teams in college football — both happen to be on Indiana's schedule. Tom Fornelli is the number one college football personality and Trent has thoughts. And the SEC vs Big Ten eligibility drama: the SEC releases rules, LSU's lawyers threaten contempt of court, and Stephen Daley and Kellan Wyatt still need their own restraining order.
