    Parker Barrow's Megan Kane and Dylan Turner join Randy Patterson for their first Boomerocity conversation.     Kent Blazy: The Tulsa Sessions, Bob Dylan and Nothing But the Song

    Hall of Fame songwriter Kent Blazy returns to Boomerocity for a conversation about The Tulsa Sessions and a lifetime spent chasing great songs. The album happened almost by accident. Kent had written a collection of songs while spending time in Florida and wasn't sure what he wanted to do with them. An opportunity arose to spend a day recording at Tulsa's historic Church Studio, the legendary facility associated with Leon Russell and generations of remarkable music. Kent walked in with his guitar. Engineer Gary Laney captured what happened. By the end of the session, Laney told him they had a record. The result is The Tulsa Sessions—an intimate collection built around Kent's voice, acoustic guitar and songwriting. In this conversation, Kent and Boomerocity's Randy Patterson talk about the history that seems to live inside great recording rooms, the vulnerability of performing with nowhere to hide, and why some songs become more powerful when everything except the writer and the song is removed. Kent also shares how Bob Dylan helped inspire his own songwriting journey, what a Kris Kristofferson concert taught him about simplicity, why he believes some of Nashville's songwriting culture became too much like an assembly line, and how technology, social media, streaming and AI are reshaping the lives of today's writers and musicians.     The Runner Director Kevin Macdonald on Suspense, Gal Gadot and Keeping Us Guessing

    One hour. One chance to save her son. And she cannot stop running. In this episode of the Boomerocity Podcast, Randy Patterson talks with Academy Award-winning director Kevin Macdonald about his Prime Video psychological thriller The Runner, starring Gal Gadot. Gadot portrays Maia Marten, a London lawyer whose run becomes a terrifying race against time after she receives word that her son has been kidnapped. Her instructions force her to keep moving while following the demands of the person controlling her every move. For Randy, one of the most effective things about The Runner was how physically immersive the experience became. As Maia grew increasingly exhausted and desperate, he began feeling some of that exhaustion himself. Meanwhile, there was a mystery to solve. Randy spent the movie trying to figure out who was behind Maia's ordeal — and couldn't. In this exclusive conversation, Macdonald talks about constructing that kind of thriller: maintaining momentum, creating physical and psychological tension, directing Gal Gadot through a demanding performance and giving the audience enough information to keep them guessing without letting them get ahead of the story.     The Stories Our Fathers Leave Behind: Marshall Terrill on Dust, Copper and Curveballs

    What happens to our parents' stories when they're no longer here to tell them? Marshall Terrill returns to Boomerocity for his fourth conversation with Randy Patterson, this time to discuss perhaps his most personal project yet: Dust, Copper and Curveballs: A Globe–Miami Childhood, a memoir built around the words his late father shared about his the life and memories during one of their last trips to his dad's home town of Globe-Miami. His father's story begins in Arizona's Globe-Miami mining country, in a world of copper dust, neighborhood ballgames, bottle-cap curveballs, hard work and tightly knit communities. His life would eventually encompass military service, a career as an Air Force colonel and educator, and decades of service to others. But this conversation goes beyond biography. Randy and Marshall explore what happens when a son becomes the keeper of his father's memories, what Marshall learned about his dad while bringing the book together, and why the everyday stories of our parents and grandparents may be far more important than we realize. It is a conversation about fathers and sons, memory, service, community, aging, legacy—and preserving the stories of a generation while we still can.
