These servicemen and women served honorably and with distinction during World War I, World War II, and the Korean War.  This episode continues with the UN push north toward the 38th Parallel during Operations Rugged and Dauntless. We explain Line Kansas, Line Utah, Line Wyoming, Route 33, and the Iron Triangle. We cover the arrival of more than 1,000 replacement troops from Puerto Rico, friendly fire incidents and tank battles.   We also tell the unbelievable true story of Sergeant First Class Modesto Cartagena de Jesús, the Borinqueneer nicknamed “One Man Army,” whose actions on Hill 206 earned him the Distinguished Service Cross and made him one of the most decorated Hispanic soldiers of the Korean War. The episode closes as Chinese forces launch the massive Spring Offensive of April 1951. CONNECT WITH US! My Dad's Journey and a few words from Mom: Love, Tears & 80 Years

Send us Fan Mail Today's episode feels a little selfish, because I wanted to record my parents and share a little bit of their story, in their own words.  First up is mom, with her signature mix of wisdom and wonderfully random stories.   Then, the heart of the episode: a longer, more emotional conversation with my dad, who turns 80 this year. He opens up about moving from Puerto Rico to the United States, the moment he met my mom (yes, he teared up retelling it), and the simple yet profound advice he's gathered for building a strong marriage and a long, happy life (¡it includes parrandas!).  This show celebrates famous Boricuas and big moments, but it's also about honoring the quiet, courageous lives of everyday Puerto Ricans. My parents are humble and grateful, and I wish to preserve their voices for our family and for anyone who needs a reminder of what's possible through resilience and love.  CONNECT WITH US!
