Xavier Educational Academy: Richard de la Cuadra
𝐗𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐫 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐀𝐜𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐲 is a school based in Houston, TX that is devoted to creating an education model where learning is student-centered, flexible, stimulating, and personalized. 𝐑𝐢𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐝𝐞 𝐥𝐚 𝐂𝐮𝐚𝐝𝐫𝐚 founded the school in 2007; however, its inspiration began many years ago after emigrating to NYC’s Lower East Side from Ecuador at an early age.
Richard, as he will tell us, was fortunate to be part of the Nativity Mission Center School and then later Xavier High School. His Jesuit educators were committed to building genuine relationships with each student, which inspired and grew his passion for changing the way young learners experience academics.
Richard joins the 𝐁𝐨𝐫𝐧 & 𝐁𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐇𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐧 𝐏𝐨𝐝𝐜𝐚𝐬𝐭 to tell his personal story and about the incredible way 𝐗𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐫 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐀𝐜𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐲 helps their students learn and grow.
Dubin's Fine Jewelry: Jordan Dubin
Dubin’s Fine Jewelry is a family-owned, full-service, boutique jewelry store in Houston, Texas that was founded over three decades ago by Lenny Dubin. His son and partner, Jordan Dubin, joins the podcast today to share the story of Dubin’s Fine Jewelry, his experience growing up around the business and ultimately joining full-time.
Dubin’s Fine Jewelry was named Houston’s best local jewelry store in Houston as voted in the Houston Chronicle’s “Best of the Best” for 2020.
Gem Events: Meg Grossman
Gem Events is a full-service event planning company based in Houston, Texas. They take on events as small as a yard celebration to a full scale 500-person wedding, and everything in between. No event is too big or too small - it's about creating memorable experiences.
Head planner and founder of Gem Events, Meg Grossman, found her way into the events industry back in 2014 after helping a friend coordinate their wedding. One successful event...and she was hooked!
Meg officially launched Gem Events in 2017, after assisting and shadowing some of the leaders in the industry, and has never looked back.
Magpies Gifts: Megan Beauchamp
Magpies Gifts first opened its doors in 1983 when sisters Maggie and "Lexie" set up shop at 906 Oakley, a Montrose Area 4-plex. Daughter and current co-owner, Megan Beauchamp, joins the podcast today to share the story of Magpies Gifts, her experience growing up in a family retail business and carrying that family business forward.
Today, Magpies Gifts operates in two Houston area locations: Bellaire & Sugar Land.
