You Don’t Have To Run A Charity To Change The World

You Don’t Have To Run A Charity To Change The World

I’ve been saying this for many years but, now more than ever, I want to make it very clear that you don't have to set up a social enterprise or run a charity, to have a positive impact in the world. Business can be a powerful agent for change.
How are you using your business in ways that are good for the world and good for your bottom line?
If people you don’t aspire to be are currently in positions of power and controlling the placement of capital and you don’t like what they’re doing and how they’re doing it - whether in an investment or a philanthropic sense - then change the game. Don’t complain about it; do something about it!
Listen to this week’s episode to stir your interest to want to know more and engage differently and if you need a thinking partner to help unlock, frame, and shape your ideas on what this could look like in your business then please reach out and let’s talk.

The Mother Teresa Trap and How to Avoid It

The Mother Teresa Trap and How to Avoid It

In this week’s episode we’re going to explore what I call the Mother Teresa trap. I’ll outline the four common features I’ve identified over the years, and I’ll give you some tips on how to avoid them.
Having spent more than 20 years in the world of impact investment, social enterprise, philanthropy and non-profits, I have seen it all folks, and in today’s episode I want to put up a few guard rails and signposts for you so that as you go further on your journey of creating a life and legacy that is both fulfilling for you and impactful on the world you can avoid some of the common traps that others have fallen into before you.
As always good intentions aren’t good enough so grab your journal and find a quiet place to listen to this week’s episode and reflect on if you’ve fallen into any of the traps I outline. Awareness is the first step so if you want to lift your game and be more impactful in your work, I’m sure there will be something in this episode for you.
Cultivating your Both/And mindset is always a good place to start.

VElder2005 ,

Almost meditative

The topics are fire for entrepreneurs and help me think bigger and broader than ever before- about wealth, legacy, and impact to name just a few “big-picture” goals. But I also really enjoy the pace and style of the episodes. In opposition to the go-go-go-justdoit mentality entrepreneurs are often faced with, this show makes me slow down, walk instead of run, and think peacefully about those big ideas. Definitely a must-have in my Achiever life!

Unimoko ,

Grounded yet Inspirational

Bessie is absolutely amazing at helping established leaders understand and embrace the complexities that come from leading and motivating a team or organization. Situations as well as people require patience and nuance. This idea is rarely discussed in most leadership circles.

Bessie’s advice is practical in terms of implementation which encourages the listeners to make immediate action.

I’ve been enjoying this podcast and excited to hear what Bessie will share with each new episode.
