The Botswana-Sweden Friendship Association, commonly known as BOTSFA, was formed in 1984. The objective was and remains that of promoting an understanding and closer interaction between Swedes and Batswana, and enhance social and cultural exchanges.

    Dr. Leloba Molema shares her views and experiences about apartheided and segregation. She shares memories from her meeting with Nelson Mandela as a child. Listeners also get to know her family background with her father and onkel as the first black medical doctors in Botswana and also their fight against apartheid. A fight that Dr. Leloba Molema was also a part of. Dr Leloba Molema is a senior lecturer in the English Department at the University of Botswana.

    Professor Sheila Dinotshe Tlou on health in Botswana In podcast no. 10, MotherK Masire interviews Professor Sheila Dinotshe Tlou about her roles as Minister of Health and HIV activist. Professor Tlou also shares her view on how the country has handled the Covid-19 pandemic. Professor Tlou is a Motswana nurse, specialist in HIV/AIDS and women's health, and a nursing educator. She was Minister of Health from 2004 to 2008. Professor Tlou is an internationally distinguished advocate for the adequacy of human resources in health development. She is a recognized visionary leader. MotherK Masire is a mindfulness coach and founder of the wellness farm, Afro Botho.

    210126 Ulf Nermark

    Ulf Nermark, a Swedish national, is a marine biologist, photographer and teacher. He is a permanent resident in Botswana since 1990. This interview was done during his recent visit to Sweden, in the beginning of 2021. In the interview Ulf talks about fish farming projects in Botswana. To that he says, “In spite of the fact the interest in fish farming was very low for many years, I never lost interest and I have undertaken my own farming trials.” The Government of Botswana has renewed interest in developing the industry — very encouraging for the farming projects. Ulf is part of a FAO project team assisting the Government of Botswana to develop the aquaculture sector, in a more structured way.

    201204 Peter Eliasson

    Peter Eliasson is a lecturer at BIUST (Botswana International University of Science & Technology) in Palapye, Botswana, teaching courses in the fields of Ecology and Forestry. He presently teaches three courses, in addition to supervising Ph.D. students. In this interview, Peter takes up seeing students doing research and fieldwork as one of his pleasures in teaching, since joining the university in 2017. For example, he is currently engaging his students in investigating the effects of solar power on carbon dioxide emissions in Botswana.
