    AKA "X-MEN ORIGINS: WEABOO."
Despite the historical failure of X-Men Origins: Wolverine, 20th Century Fox had a plan in their back pocket -- taking what was supposed to be the original film and producing it as a sequel. This film had its own developmental hell, for a while it was going to be helmed by auteur Darren Aronofsky, while still being yet another prequel. However, once the ball got rolling with director James Mangold, the movie finally got made -- as a continuation of The Last Stand. And while this movie had so much more going for it, the third act unfortunately fell victim to the bad case of "Exec throws a bowling ball onto the chess table during the endgame" its predecessor did. Despite all of this, how does the movie hold up eleven years later? Come join Brian and Alec to find out as they revisit the less-talked about and highly-underrated middle child of Logan's trilogy -- THE WOLVERINE!

    EP 90 - X-MEN: FIRST CLASS (2011)

    "PEACE WAS NEVER AN OPTION."
After the colossal failure of X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Fox was stumped as to what to do with their next project in the XMO pipeline that centered around Magneto. Since the original script heavily featured Xavier, as well as the fallout between the two former friends, the studio decided to scrap the subseries entirely and begin a new trilogy of prequels -- starting with much of the same stuff from the original Magneto script. This film has been hailed as the best top-to-bottom X-Men movie to this day, but how does it hold up after thirteen years? Come watch with Brian and Alec to find out as they continue the X-MENATHON with the beginning of a new (or old) era -- X-MEN: FIRST CLASS!

    EP 89 - X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE (2009)

ONE OF THE MOST INFAMOUS CBMs OF ALL TIME!
After the original trilogy puttered out with the disappointment of The Last Stand, Fox decided the best course of action was to start a new series of solo films about significant X-Men characters, and who better to kick them off than the ever-popular Wolverine? Well, with the original Japan-based project getting scrapped, the decision to extend the Weapon X origin to an entire film, and one of the most notorious cases of production troubles and studio meddling, you get a recipe for a disaster even bigger than its predecessor. So, come watch with Brian and Alec as they revisit one of the biggest misfires to come from the past 20 years of CBMs -- X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE!

    EP 88 - X-MEN: THE LAST STAND (2006)

    THE DARK TIMES BEGIN!
After X2 teased a high-budget adaptation of The Phoenix Saga for the end of the trilogy, fans waited eagerly to see how this trilogy would stick the landing. Well, between another horrible person stepping in as director, a complete lack of interest in the Phoenix, full-focus on another storyline entirely, and nearly all of it revolving solely around Wolverine? You got a catastrophe waiting that would take years to rectify. This movie is considered to be one of the biggest disappointments of all time when it comes to comic book films, but how does it fare nowadays? Come watch with Brian and Alec to find out as they continue the X-MENATHON by revisiting one of the multiple black sheep of the franchise, X-MEN: THE LAST STAND!

    EP 87 - X2: X-MEN UNITED (2003)

"ONE DAY! SOMEONE WILL FINISH WHAT I STARTED WOLVERINE! ONE DAY!"
After the surprise success of the initial X-Men film, it was full-steam ahead toward its inevitable sequel three years later. During the gap, the superhero genre hit some pretty significant lows like Daredevil, yet found itself completely reinvented with the release of Sam Raimi's Spider-Man just one year prior. Despite the pressure riding on it, X2 released to an even bigger ovation than the first one, and to this day is considered one of the best comic book films of the 2000's and a major player in the renaissance of the superhero genre in film -- even more so than its predecessor. With all this in mind, though, how well does the film hold up by today's standards? Come watch with Brian and Alec to find out as they continue their X-Menathon with X2: X-MEN UNITED!

In their latest marathon, come join Brian and Alec as they take a look at the movie that carried the torch that Blade lit into the new millennium -- X-Men!
