Writing this 3 episodes in.
As a behavioral health entrepreneur, with a successful exit and transition under my belt, I appreciate some of the ideas shared thus far, i.e. nuggets shared by Growth Sherpa. Chris W/ FinPay, on the other hand, needs significant corrections. As a FinPay guy - you need to stick to facts.
1. Knowing your health insurance coverage/ benefits - is the patient’s responsibility. Always.
2. Patients sign disclaimers that if insurance doesn’t cover, patient is responsible. You can take it up with your insurance.
3. Although verifying benefits for mental health is one of the easiest benefits to check - because there are no sudden hidden procedures and surgeries, mental health providers are still subject to No Surprise Act and charges for each session or service are published.
Again, there are also no surprises later, because this isn’t a surgery where suddenly an anesthesiologist not participating with your insurance is needed in your therapy session.
4. No, write offs are not common, automatic or financially feasible. Mental health providers don’t suddenly forgo their bills.
Anyone wanting to skip on their payment needs to do some reckoning.
I couldn’t listen to the full episode as the incorrect examples went on.
Eager to see what else you bring forward.
