  1. Acts 11: Barnabas & The Church in Antioch

Acts 11: Barnabas & The Church in Antioch

OVERVIEW In Acts 11:19–30, we see the birth of the church in Antioch, a city that would become a launching point for the spread of the gospel throughout the world. What makes this story remarkable is that it wasn't started by famous apostles or a carefully crafted strategy. It began with ordinary believers who had been scattered by persecution and simply couldn't stop talking about Jesus. As the gospel takes root in Antioch, we meet Barnabas—a man known for encouragement, generosity, and faithfulness. Rather than seeking recognition, Barnabas recognizes God's grace at work, invests in others, and helps build a thriving church marked by unity, generosity, and mission. Through his example, we see that God often works through people who are available, faithful, and willing to release what they're holding for the sake of His kingdom. This passage reminds us that the church is at its best when ordinary people join in what God is already doing. God rarely looks for the most qualified person. He looks for hearts that are surrendered, available, and willing to trust Him with the outcome. Whether we're sent to a new place, serving where we are, or stepping into an unknown season, the invitation remains the same: make yourself available and trust God's hand to lead the way. KEY TAKEAWAYS God often advances His mission through ordinary people who are willing to say yes Generosity and encouragement are not strategies but the fruit of a life shaped by grace The church is strongest when people release what they are holding and trust God with the results Our availability matters more to God than our qualifications The hand of the Lord rests on those who surrender their plans and join Him in His work CONTACT INFO Branch ChurchWebsite: https://branchchurchmn.org If you're exploring faith, considering baptism, or looking for a place to grow in community and purpose, we'd love to connect with you. 2. Acts 9-11: Peter & Cornelius

    Acts 9-11: Peter & Cornelius

OVERVIEW In Acts 10–11, we reach a pivotal moment in the story of the early church. Through a series of visions, divine appointments, and acts of obedience, God makes it clear that the gospel is not just for one group of people—it is for everyone. What once seemed impossible becomes reality as Peter shares the good news of Jesus with Cornelius, a Gentile, and witnesses the Holy Spirit move in powerful ways. At the heart of this story is a God who relentlessly pursues people. Cornelius is searching for God. Peter is learning to see people differently. And through both of their stories, God is tearing down barriers that once separated people from Him and from one another. The mission of Jesus is expanding, and the church is being invited to participate. KEY TAKEAWAYS No one is beyond the reach of God's grace and invitation to new life God continually changes our hearts so we can better reflect His mission and love Wherever God sends us, He is already at work preparing people to encounter Jesus We are called to be ready to share how Jesus has changed our lives Following Jesus means removing barriers rather than standing in the way of God's work CONTACT INFO Branch ChurchWebsite: https://branchchurchmn.org If you're curious about Jesus, considering baptism, or looking for a community to help you grow in your faith, we'd love to connect with you. 3. Acts: Miraculous Restoration

    Jun 7

    Acts: Miraculous Restoration

OVERVIEW In Acts 9:32–42, Peter encounters two very different people in need of restoration. Aeneas has been paralyzed and bedridden for eight years. Tabitha, a beloved servant in her community, has died unexpectedly. In both stories, Peter becomes a vessel through which Jesus brings healing, hope, and new life. But the miracles themselves are not the center of the story—Jesus is. Before examining these miracles, we are reminded of Peter's own journey. The man who once denied Jesus has been transformed through intimacy with Christ, failure, restoration, and the work of the Holy Spirit. By this point in Acts, Peter is no longer seeking experiences or recognition. He is simply dependent on Jesus and available to be used by Him. This passage invites us to consider the legacy we are leaving behind, the role of prayer in our lives, and whether our actions ultimately point people to Jesus. God still brings healing, restoration, and transformation today—not so that people will marvel at the miracle, but so that they will encounter the Savior. KEY TAKEAWAYS A life of humble service leaves a lasting legacy that impacts others long after we are gone Prayer is not a last resort but a posture of dependence on Jesus and His power God often forms us through failure, suffering, and restoration before using us in greater ways Jesus meets people in every circumstance, whether they feel broken, forgotten, fruitful, or faithful Signs, wonders, and acts of service should always point people to Jesus, not ourselves CONTACT INFO Branch ChurchWebsite: https://branchchurchmn.org If you're seeking healing, prayer, or encouragement in your walk with Jesus, we'd love to connect with you. 4. Acts 9:1-31 Saul's Conversion

    May 31

    Acts 9:1-31 Saul's Conversion

OVERVIEW In Acts 9:1–31, we encounter one of the most dramatic transformation stories in all of Scripture. Saul, a fierce opponent of Jesus and His followers, is on a mission to persecute the church when everything changes. On the road to Damascus, the risen Jesus meets him personally, confronts him, and redirects the course of his life. What follows is a powerful reminder that no one is beyond the reach of God's grace. But Saul's story is not just about a dramatic conversion. It's also about the people God sends along the way. Ananias courageously obeys God's call to encourage and disciple a man he once feared. Later, Barnabas steps in to advocate for Saul when others are skeptical of his transformation. Through their obedience, God helps shape one of the most influential leaders in church history. This passage reminds us that following Jesus begins with surrender, continues through community, and grows through encouragement. God is still pursuing people today, and He still uses ordinary believers to help others take their next step of faith. KEY TAKEAWAYS No one is beyond the reach of God's grace, no matter their past or present circumstances Jesus calls us to surrender and trust Him with the next step, even when we cannot see the whole journey Spiritual growth happens best in community through discipleship, encouragement, and obedience God often uses ordinary people to help others encounter and follow Jesus A healthy church lives in reverence for God and encouragement through the Holy Spirit CONTACT INFO Branch ChurchWebsite: https://branchchurchmn.org If you're exploring faith, considering baptism, or looking for someone to walk alongside you in your spiritual journey, we'd love to connect with you. 5. Acts 8: Power Struggle

    May 17

    Acts 8: Power Struggle

OVERVIEW In Acts 8:9–25, we see a powerful reminder that the gospel does more than inspire people—it confronts, transforms, and exposes the human heart. As Philip continues preaching in Samaria, the good news of Jesus begins breaking through spiritual darkness, drawing people into new life and freedom. At the center of the story is Simon, a man who had built influence and power through sorcery and self-promotion. While many in Samaria respond to Jesus with genuine faith and surrender, Simon reveals a heart still driven by pride, control, and personal gain. This passage challenges us to examine not just what we believe about Jesus, but what is truly shaping our hearts. The gospel is still the most powerful message in the world. It brings life where there was death, freedom where there was bondage, and joy where there was emptiness. This message invites us to surrender fully to Jesus, remove any resistance in our hearts, and live as confident carriers of His good news. KEY TAKEAWAYS The gospel confronts the false powers and empty promises of this world True faith is more than knowing about Jesus—it is surrendering fully to Him Bitterness, pride, and resistance to God will eventually poison the heart The Holy Spirit unites people across every barrier through Jesus We are called to carry the most powerful message the world has ever known CONTACT INFO Branch ChurchWebsite: https://branchchurchmn.org If you’ve been exploring faith, considering baptism, or sensing God inviting you into a deeper step of surrender, we would love to walk with you. 6. Acts 8:1-8 Scattered and Strengthened

    May 10

    Acts 8:1-8 Scattered and Strengthened

OVERVIEW In Acts 8:1–8, the early church faces intense persecution. Believers are forced to leave their homes, communities, and familiar surroundings. What appears to be a devastating setback becomes the very means God uses to spread the gospel beyond Jerusalem and into Judea and Samaria. This passage reminds us that God often uses seasons of disruption to accomplish His purposes. Saul, who is leading the persecution, will soon become one of the greatest missionaries in church history. Scattered believers carry the message of Jesus wherever they go. Philip enters Samaria, a place many would have avoided, and the result is healing, freedom, and great joy. This message invites us to trust that God is at work even when life feels uncertain. The seeds we sow in discomfort today may become a harvest of joy tomorrow. Where the gospel goes, joy follows. KEY TAKEAWAYS God can redeem even our darkest stories and use them for His purposes What feels like disruption may be the very way God spreads the gospel The gospel often leads us into uncomfortable places where God is already at work Where the gospel goes, healing, freedom, and joy follow The seeds we sow in faith today may become someone else’s harvest tomorrow CONTACT INFO Branch ChurchWebsite: https://branchchurchmn.org Branch West Interest Form: https://www.branchchurchmn.org/new-location If you’re interested in learning more about Branch West or exploring how God may be calling you to take a next step, we’d love to connect with you. 7. Acts 7: Bold Testimony

    May 3

    Acts 7: Bold Testimony

OVERVIEW In Acts 7, Stephen delivers one of the boldest and most challenging messages in Scripture. Standing before a hostile audience, he recounts the story of God’s faithfulness—from Abraham to Moses to the prophets—showing that God’s presence has never been confined to a place, but has always been with His people. But this is more than a history lesson. Stephen is confronting a deeper issue: the human tendency to resist God, even while claiming to follow Him. His words are direct and difficult, exposing hearts that have drifted from obedience and truth. Yet even in the face of rejection and death, Stephen models something remarkable. With his eyes fixed on Jesus, his trust anchored in eternity, and his heart filled with grace, he bears witness with courage and compassion. This passage invites us to consider how we respond when it costs us something to speak the truth—and whether our lives reflect the same bold, Jesus-centered witness. KEY TAKEAWAYS God’s presence is not confined to a place—He is always at work among His people Our hearts are prone to resist God, but He continually calls us back to Himself Bold witness comes from fixing our eyes on Jesus, not on people’s responses True faith trusts God with the outcome, even when it costs us something The gospel produces grace-filled courage, even toward those who oppose us CONTACT INFO Branch ChurchWebsite: https://branchchurchmn.org If you’re wrestling with faith, taking a step toward Jesus, or looking for community, we’d love to connect with you. 8. Acts 6: Grace under Pressure

    Apr 26

    Acts 6: Grace under Pressure

OVERVIEW In Acts 6:8–15, we are introduced to Stephen, a man whose life was marked by “grace under pressure.” As the early church begins to face growing opposition, Stephen becomes a powerful example of what it looks like to remain anchored in Jesus when pressure rises. Stephen is falsely accused, opposed, and publicly challenged. Yet instead of reacting in fear or defensiveness, he responds with wisdom, grace, and a steady presence shaped by the Holy Spirit. His life reveals something deeper than courage—it shows what happens when a person is deeply formed by being with Jesus. This message invites us to consider how we respond when pressure comes. Not if, but when. The goal is not simply to withstand opposition, but to become the kind of people whose lives reflect Jesus so clearly that even in the hardest moments, His presence shines through us. KEY TAKEAWAYS Opposition is inevitable for followers of Jesus, but how we respond reveals what is forming us True strength comes from being deeply tethered to the Holy Spirit, not from our own ability Grace under pressure is the fruit of a life consistently shaped by time with Jesus God equips us with wisdom and words in difficult moments when we depend on Him The greatest witness we offer the world is not perfection, but a life transformed by Jesus CONTACT INFO Branch ChurchWebsite: https://branchchurchmn.org If you’re looking to grow in your faith, step into community, or simply talk with someone about what it means to follow Jesus, we’d love to connect with you.
