Breakdown: Turning Anguish Into Action

Two years out from this mass shooting in my state of Maine I have listened to and read a lot about the Lewiston shooting. This series was thoughtfully put together and showed so many sides of the tragedy with compassion and care.

This is so well done, covers every perspective and the wide reaching effects that are well beyond what one first considers in tragedies like this along with the Maine culture of gun acceptance. The varying narrators and stories are powerful and inspiring.

I highly recommend this podcast. I was intrigued and on the edge of my seat the whole time.

We talk a lot about the impact of violence on our communities. We rarely talk about the deaf culture and the often heartbreaking isolation it can bring one can only assume the gunman knew that he was going to be firing into a crowd of deaf people. Both the podcast and the documentary are going to highlight how this community needs much more support. And how we as a nation can give it.
