    Matilda: Robin Swicord Run

    The dailies are in and we’re watching Matilda! Our 51st episode and 3rd of the Robin Swicord run, we may not be telekinetic geniuses but we're doing our drunken best. Written by Robin and Nicholas Kazan, directed by Danny Devito, and starring Mara Wilson, Rhea Perlman, and Mr. Devito himself, this is a cult classic and a childhood favorite for Kate. Which naturally means Blake has a lot to say. So, pour yourself a Moby Drink and hit play — Brewvies is back! Moby Drink Ingredients: 1 oz Vodka 1/2 oz Blue Curaçao 3 oz Lemon-lime unsweetened club soda (like La Croix) 1 Swedish gummy fish per drink Instructions: Combine the vodka and the Curaçao over ice in the glass of your choice and top with the soda. Top with a Swedish fish speared with a skewer, Moby Dick Style.     The Curious Case of Benjamin Button: Robin Swicord Run

    The dailies are in and we’re watching The Curious Case of Benjamin Button! Our 50th episode and second of the Robin Swicord run. We certainly aren't aging backwards (Blake has whole exercises just for his knee pain) so we've decided our advanced age is just even more reason for us to give our unsolicited opinions over a drink. So, pour yourself a Sazerac and hit play — Brewvies is back! Sazerac Ingredients: Absinthe 1 sugar cube 2 ½ oz Cognac or rye whiskey 3 dashes of Peychaud’s bitters Lemon twist Instructions: Rinse an old-fashioned glass with absinthe, discard, then fill the glass with crushed ice. Muddle the sugar cube with a few drops of water in another old-fashioned glass, and add a few large ice cubes.  Add in the cognac or rye, and bitters, and stir gently to combine.  Discard the ice in the first glass, then strain the cocktail into this prepared glass.     The Jane Austen Bookclub: Emily Blunt Meets Robin Swicord

    The dailies are in and we’re watching The Jane Austen Bookclub! Our 49th episode and where we leave Emily Blunt and begin our Robin Swicord run. You may not recognize her name immediately, but Robin Swicord is the writer/producer behind some of the move influential and iconic rom-coms ever made. So, prepare for a love struck run and pour yourself a Gin & Bennet and hit play — Brewvies is back! Gin & Bennet Ingredients 1.5 oz gin 1/2 oz créme de violette 1/2 oz lemon juice ice sparkling wine edible blossoms [for garnish] Instructions In a shaker filled with ice, combine the gin, créme de violette, and lemon juice. Shake well. Strain into a couple, and top with sparkling wine. Garnish with edible blossoms, and for heaven's sake, take the carriage.     The dailies are in and we’re watching Sicario! Our 47th episode and second of the Emily Blunt run, this is star studded cast with each member giving a powerhouse of a performance. But, you'll definitely want a little something to take the edge off so, pour yourself a Border Crossing and hit play — Brewvies is back! Border Crossing Ingredients: Ice Cubes 1 Part Lime Juice 4 Dashes Orange Bitters 1 Part Runny Honey 1½ Parts Triple Sec Ginger Ale Blueberry Lime Directions: Fill a shaker with ice cubes. Add lime juice, orange bitters, runny honey and triple sec. Shake and strain into a wine glass filled with ice cubes. Top up with ginger ale. Garnish with blueberry and lime.     Edge of Tomorrow: Tom Cruise meets Emily Blunt

    The dailies are in and we’re watching Edge of Tomorrow! Our 46th episode and where our Tom Cruise run meets our Emily Blunt run. A run, dystopian take on a time-loop, this one definitely takes you for a ride. Speaking of rides, let the drink this week take you to it's master...we're drinking Alien Invasions! Pour yourself an encounter of the 4th kind and hit play — Brewvies is back! Alien Invasion Ingredients: 1 Oz. Blue Curacao 3/4 Oz. Crystal Head Vodka 3/4 Oz. Bacardi Superior White Rum 1-1/2 Oz. Fresh Pineapple Juice 1/2 Oz. Small Hands Orgeat Syrup 3 Dashes Scrappy's Lime Bitters Ice Cubes Directions: Chill the glass in the freezer. Fill your cocktail shaker with ice then add the other ingredients. Shake until chilled then strain into an ice filled, chilled glass. Add the alien gummy to the rim then add drops of the B'Lure down the inside of the glass or over the back of a spoon and let to settle at the bottom, then serve.     Magnolia: The Tom Cruise Run

    The dailies are in and we’re watching Magnolia! Our 45th episode and third of the Tom Cruise run. This is one of Blake's favorite films by his dad — wait no — his favorite director, Paul Thomas Andersen. And in a shocking turn of events, it's a first watch for Kate, which Blake feels totally normal about. So, pour yourself a Magnolia Sunrise and hit play — Brewvies is back! Magnolia Sunrise Ingredients 4 ½ cups orange juice 1 ½ cups vodka ⅔ cup frozen cranberry juice concentrate, thawed Ice cubes Instructions: Stir together orange juice and vodka in an ice-filled pitcher. Strain ice, as you pour mixture into each of 6 tall glasses.     The dailies are in and we’re watching Legend! Our 44th episode and 2nd of the Tom Cruise run, we're going back to 1985 and watching a young Tom wreak havoc in a weird, magical world. Co-starring Mia Sara and Tim Curry, prepare to be strangely delighted by this dark, strange & stormy, 80s trip. So, pour yourself a Dark and Stormy and hit play — Brewvies is back! Ingredients 2 oz. dark rum 3 oz. ginger beer 1/2 oz. lime juice (optional) Directions STEP 1 - Fill a tall glass with ice cubes. Add rum. STEP 2 - Pour in ginger beer and lime juice. STEP 3 - Stir with a barspoon. STEP 4 - Garnish with a lime wedge. Enjoy.
