How to save your own life by fighting evolution!

Welcome to episode 45 of Bright Ones! Your 3 minute podcast where we sniff out under reported good news! SNIFF SNIFF SNIFF Today's good news is all about eating. More exactly today is about the benefits of going down to a more healthy weight. It's been shown multiple times that, for those overweight, that eating better and intaking less calories a day is good for you. Style changes like "The Mediterranean Diet" work well and reduce diabetes risks by a third but don't tend to last forever. Here are some of the big reasons! Junk food is aimed at overloading your brain's reward centers "The Dorito Effect" Flavor Tricked Misleading nutrition labelling confuses Constant food ads stimulate your hunger more than Pavlov's dog Evolution lead to lower full response because overeating when calories were available got you through thin times. Eating a little too much a day can lead to 10 or more pounds extra a year. Think one soda, half a candy bar or those fries at the bottom of occational burger bag! (Everybody knows those baglers are supposed to be for dogs anyway!) Who's really to blame? Well it's hormones! It's much harder to get fit than it is to stay fit because your body hormones want you to stay that way. DARN STUPID HORMONES always messing with our lives! That's why GLP1 meds have been saving lives! For the first time ever the number over people overweight has dropped! Also because of this people get type 2 diabetes less, snore less, get less osteoarthritis, get less chronic kidney disease and heart failure through June 2025. Also fertility goes up! (You've been warned people!) For so often us chubsters out there have been told "Move more, eat less" without any mention to that evil little never ending hunger devil sitting on our shoulder. Now that these hunger meds are dropping in price we encourage those that may benefit to not worry about the stigma. It's ok to admit that you need a little help. Besides, it is easier to be more active when you carry less extra pounds! Until next time, stay healthy, don't be afraid of asking for help and like me TRY to be a goodboy WOOF!

This manmade egg might make manmade dinos!

Welcome to episode 44 of Bright Ones! The 3 minute podcast only about uplifting stories!3 Come with me as we sniff out some GOOD news! SNIFF SNIFF SNIFF Scientists just hatched baby chicks from something that sounds ripped straight out of a sci-fi movie. An artificial egg. Yep. A completely engineered shell-like environment created by biotech company Colossal Biosciences successfully helped hatch 26 healthy baby chicks! Now before anyone starts panic-buying jeeps and building electric fences… no, there is not a velociraptor loose in Texas. Yet! But this IS a huge step toward bringing back extinct birds like the dodo and the gigantic South Island moa of New Zealand. The moa was basically the NBA center of birds. Some stood nearly 12 feet tall, taller than an ostrich, and laid eggs up to 80 times bigger than a chicken egg. mmmm... tasty chicky egg Bringing back giant birds is tricky because you can find a giant bird that could sit on an egg so enormous? So researchers created a high-tech artificial egg system with a special oxygen-permeable membrane that mimics how real eggs breathe. Before today I never thought about eggs breathing! It even has a little viewing window so scientists can watch embryos develop in real time. Tiny dinosaur apartment with mood lighting. This matters because birds ARE technically living dinosaurs. Every pigeon stealing your french fries is basically a tiny feathered velociraptor with less ambition. In other words… humanity just unlocked one more tile on the Jurassic Park tech tree. Scientists are still debating the ethics and practicality of all this, and many point out that conservation of living species should remain the top priority. But even critics admit the artificial egg breakthrough itself is genuinely impressive and could help endangered birds survive in the future too. Today it’s chickens in a synthetic shell. Tomorrow? Maybe a giant moa strutting through New Zealand like it owns the place again. And hopefully still no velociraptors opening kitchen doors. That’s today’s bright little story! Keep your tail wagging, keep your curiosity alive, and keep sniffing out the good news!

Why this US city sings 2 national anthems every game!

Welcome to episode 43 of Bright Ones! The 3 minute podcast that sniffs out uplifting news that you may have missed! Let's start sniffing!!!! Today we have GOOD news for Canada! More importantly for Canada's Anthem and professional hockey! First a 1 minute history lesson. The NHL (National Hockey League) started back in Montreal in 1917. The league consisted of just a Canadian teams initially. Hence why it is National and not International! In 1920 the NHL expanded to Boston, Chicago and New York. Despite becoming international, Hockey is and will always be at the core of Canada's heart! Tonight is game 7 in the NHL playoffs that decides if the last Canadian team in the playoffs, the Montreal Canadians, moves on or if the Buffalo Sabres proceed! Either way, this is good news for Canada, their fans and their Anthem. Most people know that Buffalo and Canada are as close as cousins! Toronto and Buffalo share a great lake and a lot history. What is less known is that Buffalo has the only US arena that always sings both anthems! Buffalo does this for unity and to always praise the heart of hockey in North America! So no matter what happens tonight you will still hear both the Anthems of United States and Canada in the next playoff round! We are biased on who we would prefer but either way, this is a win-win for both countries and a sign of unity in trying times. So tonight, in a little rust belt town we celebrate the "Home of the brave" who is also "GloriUS and free"! That's our simple little bit of sunshine infused good news for today! Until next time, keep an eye open for the hidden wins and like me TRY to be a goodboy! WOOF!

Old school travel hack to get more for less is surging!

Welcome to episode 42 of Bright Ones! The 3 minute podcast that sniffs out uplifting news that you may have missed! Let's start sniffing!!!! We have GOOD news in the travel industry! A decade or so ago travel websites foretold the death of the travel industry! Today, well that can't be further from the truth!!! Travel Agencies not only are still alive they THRIVE! Wha wha what!? Why?! How?! Most people think travel agencies cost more and that they inflate costs to make more money! That's a myth! FACT! Travel agencies, the good ones like "TheTravelTeam.com" (TTT) have no added costs! They are lean, efficient and have a long history! They are all commission based so there's no added fees or upcharges. Many believe that these companies only recommend overpriced deals. Another myth! FACT! Agencies that have been around a few years are still around because they get the best prices for their customers because they know that if they don't they will lose your trust. Their customer service is US based because they know communication is key part of that trust and keeping all your data on secure US servers is crucial! Keeping your trust means keeping you as a customer! The pandemic closed a lot of agencies leaving the best ones to surge! Lastly, travel agencies have more clout than any one of us has on our own. They have a lot more pull when it comes to refunds, travel insurance and adjustments. It's always unfortunate when weather, political landscape, strikes, TSA, airline tech outages affect your travel. These companies can help more get budging the line and moving faster than self-bookers! They can also react before you are even aware of an incoming problem. What is old is new again and you deserve a trip somewhere bright and fun to unwind from your day to day! We recommend TheTravelTeam.com because we have used them and always make this bulldog feel like the Top Dawg!!! Wherever you go, whatever you do, keep room for bright good stories like travel agency comeback story! Until next time, keep on keeping on and like me try to be a good boy WOOF! https://thetravelteam.com

New cheat code for free college books!

Welcome to episode 41 of Bright Ones! Come with me as we sniff out GOOD news that went overlooked! SNIFF SNIFF SNIFF Today is all about educational news! ## How college kids can nerf the textbook monster! [https://www.mnwest.edu/about-us/news/2025-2026/expansion-grant-awarded-z-degree.php](https://www.mnwest.edu/about-us/news/2025-2026/expansion-grant-awarded-z-degree.php) Despite the old addage, you can teach an old bulldog new tricks as long as they can afford the books! Minnesota West Community and Technical College received a grant to expand its “Z-Degree” program, where students can earn degrees with zero textbook costs. That may sound small until you remember some college textbooks can cost between two to three thousand dollars extra a year! Programs like this matter because students sometimes skip buying required books entirely due to cost. The grant will help expand more no-cost courses and update free learning materials across different subjects at Minnesota West College! Knowledge should be challenging. Paying for it should not be! ## Diplomas, degrees and debt deletion! [https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026/may/12/north-carolina-state-commencement-speaker-paying-off-student-loans](https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026/may/12/north-carolina-state-commencement-speaker-paying-off-student-loans) At North Carolina State University, commencement speaker Anil Kochhar surprised graduates by announcing he and his wife would pay off all student loans incurred during the students’ final year at the Wilson College of Textiles. The gift honored Kochhar’s late father, who graduated from the same college in the 1950s. Around 200 graduates were affected. The crowd exploded with cheers, because apparently the most inspirational graduation speech is one that comes with fewer loan payments. America is a better place when its filled with smarter people with useful skills. Getting out of student-debt can be harder than getting rid of soviet era super fleas! We are all better, smarter and more kind when we have an affordable path to a bigger brain! This has been your 3 minutes of good news today. Until next time, keep your nose pointed toward the good stuff and like me TRY to be a goodboy WOOF!

How a stronger grip adds years to your life!

Welcome to episode 40 of bright ones! The only 3 minute podcast that sniffs out the good news you missed! SNIFF SNIFF SNIFF! Yesterday we talked about good news about steps per day. In related news today’s uplifting reports are all about human strength! I’m not talking metaphorical intangible strength like unending optimism or the willpower to never give up. I’m talking about that real physical gigachad style strength! The first bit of the good news for those of us with a powerful Kungfu grip! The University at Buffalo found that you live longer if your hands have a more powerful squeeze! https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2026/05/260510234722.htm The older women in the study showed that you reduce your chance of death by 12% for 15 pounds of grip strength. The same study also showed that healthier people go from sitting to standing more quickly! There’s time to improve for those out there that shake like a limp fish and take forever to go from chair to the buffet line. We believe in you! Personally we measure human health by “BRPM”. That’s butt rubs per minute! We also accept ear scratches per second as an answer. If you’re bones ache too much to strengthen your grasp, researchers at McGill University might have discovered a way to help you out. These scientists have found that cooling the body causes pesky brown fat to release an enzyme called TNAP which helps strengthen bones. This is good news because this might lead to new therapy to burn off harmful fat, lose weight and strengthen your skeleton! https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2026/05/260511213141.htm In summary, we now know that if we increase hand strength, practice sit-down/standups we can lengthen our lives! And for those who might have bone density issues treatments are a big step closer! Until next time keep pushing for those little doses of health improvements that keep you on this Earth longer and like me keep on trying to be a goodboy! WOOF

    MAY 10

Wolves make butterflies brighter and eggs make you remember better!

Welcome to episode 38 of Bright Ones! Come with me as we sniff out some GOOD news! SNIFF SNIFF SNIFF Story #1 Wolves learn to remodel nature! https://planet-wildlife.com/2026/04/20/rewilding-wolves/ Wolves are returning to parts of Europe and North America, and scientists say they can reshape entire ecosystems in surprisingly beautiful ways. When wolves are around, deer and elk move around more instead of overgrazing one area. That allows grasses, flowers, willow trees, and shrubs to recover near rivers and fields. More wildflowers means more nectar for butterflies and pollinators. This means a healthier plant diversity and larger, more colorful butterflies! Apparently nature buffets are good for our winged little friends! The effects keep going. More trees help stabilize riverbanks. Beavers return create wetlands that in turn add more birds, fish, insects, and other wildlife. Wolves are not a cure-alls, but predators clearly help keep ecosystems balanced. Nature is basically a giant domino setup where one missing piece can wobble the whole table. Here’s a special message to my canine cousins out there! (Dog sounds) Story #2 Eggs Might Help Protect the Brain https://thefirmo.com/eating-eggs-five-times-a-week-was-linked-to-a-27-lower-alzheimers-risk-in-a-study-of-nearly-40000-adults/ A study of nearly 40,000 adults found that people who ate eggs at least five times a week had a significantly lower risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease. Researchers believe nutrients like choline, vitamin B12, and healthy fats may help support brain health and memory function. Honestly, eggs continue to be one of nature’s biggest overachievers. Cheap, packed with nutrients, and somehow acceptable at literally any hour of the day. Witty Wrap Up Today’s lesson? Wolves help flowers bloom, butterflies thrive, and rivers heal... while eggs remain fantastic and somehow find a way to get even better while helping humans remember where they left the spatula. Sign Off Remember good news is everywhere... sometimes in the forest and sometimes in the frying pan Until next time, like me, try to be a good boy!
