Drugs, Violence & the Childhood I Called Normal. Jason Hughes EP. 14

For most people, stories involving drugs, guns, police, prison and violence sound like the worst moments of someone’s life. For Jason Hughes, they were just childhood. Jason grew up surrounded by a world he didn’t fully understand was abnormal. His mother dealt drugs. His father was largely absent. He moved constantly, watched violence unfold around him, had guns pointed at him during a robbery, and was once given drugs to hide in his pocket because his mom believed the police wouldn’t search a kid. His grandfather even told him that one day he would follow in their footsteps. After all, it was the “family business.” But Jason’s life took a different direction. In this episode, Jason takes us inside a childhood filled with stories that are sometimes heartbreaking, sometimes unbelievable, and—somehow—occasionally hilarious. More importantly, he shares how meeting the right people exposed him to a completely different way of living and helped shape the husband, father and man he would eventually become. We talk about breaking generational cycles, finding positive role models, fatherhood, forgiveness, personal responsibility, and the strange realization that sometimes you don’t recognize how abnormal your childhood was until you’re old enough to look back at it. And because this is Broken Perspective, we also somehow find our way into competitive laser tag, magic, growing up in the ’90s, and plenty of laughs along the way. This isn’t a story about allowing your past to define you. It’s about realizing you get to decide what happens next. Tolerance vs. Forced Acceptance and Is Too Much Destroying America? Ep. 7

On this episode of the Broken Perspective Podcast, we dive into one of the most uncomfortable — and important — conversations in modern culture… tolerance. What does tolerance actually mean today? Is it simply allowing people to live differently than you… or has it evolved into something closer to mandatory acceptance and celebration? We explore the growing pressure many people feel to stay silent about beliefs, values, and concerns they may privately wrestle with every day. From social norms and cultural shifts to free speech, parenting, religion, identity, and community values, we ask the difficult question: Can a society become so tolerant that it eventually loses the very foundation that holds it together? This isn’t a conversation about hate or division. It’s about honesty, balance, and figuring out where peaceful coexistence ends… and cultural surrender begins. Whether you agree with us, disagree with us, or land somewhere in the middle, this episode is designed to challenge perspectives and spark real thought. 🎙️ Welcome to the Broken Perspective Podcast — where difficult conversations are allowed to exist. #BrokenPerspectivePodcast #Tolerance #Culture #Society #FreedomOfSpeech #ModernCulture #Podcast #Philosophy #Leadership #SocialCommentary FOLLOW US Instagram at https://www.instagram.com/brokenperspectivepodcast/ Appreciate you all for tuning in!
