    Paul's Sermon on the Unknown God in Acts 17: Paul's Message to the Athenians

    In this continuation of the study in the Book of Acts chapter 17, Paul addresses the people of Athens at the altar to the unknown God. He declares the one true God who made the world and all things, who is Lord of heaven and earth and does not dwell in temples made with hands. God gives life and breath and all things to all people, has made all nations of one blood, and has determined their times and borders. He calls everyone to seek the Lord who is not far from each one of us, quotes their own poets, urges repentance, and proclaims judgment through the risen Jesus Christ. Some mocked while others including Dionysius the Areopagite and a woman named Damaris believed.

    Acts 17:11-23: The Noble Bereans, Paul in Athens, and the Altar to the Unknown God

    This video continues the Book of Acts series in chapter 17 starting from verse 11. The Bereans are described as more noble than those in Thessalonica because they received the word with readiness and searched the Scriptures daily to verify what they heard. Many in Berea believed including honorable Greek women and men while Jews from Thessalonica stirred up the people against Paul. Paul is sent to Athens where his spirit is stirred by the city’s idolatry and he disputes daily in the synagogue and marketplace with Jews, devout persons, Epicureans, and Stoics before addressing the Athenians at the Areopagus about their superstition and the altar to the Unknown God.

    The Importance of Thinking About What the Bible Says

    In this impromptu conversation me and Don talk about the importance of thinking about what you read in the Bible instead of just reading through it. We start with John chapter 17 where the Lord Jesus Christ says sanctified them through thy truth thy word is truth and how it applies to all believers who come after the disciples. We discuss meditation from Psalm 119 on having more understanding than teachers by meditating on Gods testimonies along with verses about cleansing your way and hiding his word in your heart. We also cover the parable of the sower in Luke chapter 8 explaining how the seed is the word of God and the need for good ground that brings forth fruit with patience.

    Leviticus Chapter 4 Bible Study Sin Offerings and Atonement

    In this Bible study we examine the sin offering in Leviticus chapter 4 for sins committed through ignorance. The study covers procedures for the anointed priest, the whole congregation, a ruler, and common people. We talk about atonement and blood rituals.     We continue our study through the Book of Leviticus with chapter 3 and a close look at the peace offering. We read the full chapter together and talk about why the offerings open with the burnt offering the meat offering and the peace offering before the sin and trespass offerings come up later. The conversation covers the voluntary thanksgiving side of it as recognizing peace already made with God. The priests role in sprinkling the blood and taking their portions the specific inwards kidneys fat and caul that get burned on the altar the rule against eating fat or blood and some natural ties that came up to New Testament thoughts on Christ and fellowship with God.
