    68. What is Witchcraft?

    68. What is Witchcraft?

A question that is significantly harder to answer than most people think is “What is Witchcraft?” This month I’m going to try to answer that, and if I fail you’ll be at least as confused as I am by the end. And hey, isn’t nice to do something together from time to time?

    67. The Headache of Misinformation

Combating misinformation has always been one of the primary missions of this show, and honestly? It just gets exhausting sometimes. Why are people in this community so willing to uncritically pass on bad information? Why can’t people be bothered to do the minimum to verify what they’re saying’s correct?

    It’s incredibly frustrating.

Last month Hex Positive‘s Bree NicGarran joined Trae to take a look at the classic witch-centric movie Hocus Pocus (1993). This month, Bree’s back to help review the 2022 sequel to that movie — Hocus Pocus 2.

    65. Hocus Pocus (1993)

It’s time to dig back into the VHS tapes that you’ve shoved in a box in your basement (or just open Disney Plus), and talk about the classic witch-centric movie Hocus Pocus (1993). Hex Positive‘s Bree NicGarran joins Trae this month for an indepth look at this Halloween movie… in November.

But c’mon, we all know it’s Halloween year round in these parts.

    64. Ask the Question.

    64. Ask the Question.

For the first time in five years, we’re breaking the “Trae talks to someone about ghosts for an hour in October” pattern. Instead we’re using this month and the witchcraft movement’s obsession with Halloween to ask “why are we doing any of this stuff?”

It should make sense in the end.

    I hope.

    63. Nature and Witchcraft

    63. Nature and Witchcraft

One of the most common descriptions of “witchcraft” you’ll find out there will say that it’s a “nature based” practice. That’s also reinforced in so many witchcraft books over the last century, as well as in the current social media witchcraft circles. This episode is here to ask the question so many folks seem to be ignoring.

    Is it really?

Don’t hate. Relate.

Trae is a kindred spirit to all veteran witches & a touchstone for all newbs. This podcast should help folks discern where personal craft boundaries should lie, not where lies should dwell. There should be no spiritual practice higher than truth.

Hit or miss on episodes

This is hit or miss episodes on this podcast and that’s ok and I admit I was bit to harsh I only listened to one episode that’s on me for jumping onto conclusions on this podcast. For this podcast and taking more time to listen episodes I actually agree with things with the host on somethings and there is definitely stuff I disagree still that’s ok and he does has some good nuggets of information and episodes even opened my mind and aha moments too. Moments of course I’m feeling like yeah I disagree on that. Overall not as a bad I first reviewed but would recommend it actually!

Problems with nature episode, it’s super judgy

I was born in a farming community so I follow the four season natural cycle. It’s one of the reasons I was drawn to this faith. Nature as a word means plants and animals outside of humanity. So even crops are nature. Plus, I respect deer. Bears aren’t in a lot of places. When I lived in a place without four seasons, we did a Mediterranean cycle. Why do you think suburbs have less nature or soul than a city? I know people who live there and there’s nature there. Then you say there is no wrong way to witch. What? Ok, people aren’t part of nature by definition of the word nature. It’s very confusing. I came here for certain topics, but often it doesn’t outweigh the judgmental attitude. I am not sure how one does witchcraft without nature. Following construction season seems ill advised, like following the ever popular pop culture Wicca. Then again, there are folkways that existed before the upper class Gardnerian thing. They didn’t create folkways and giving libations to the earth. It exists before that. Now I am rambling. Yikes.
