Hits Close to Home

As an Idahoan this hit close to home. Clark County Washington is about two hours away from where I live in Sandpoint, Idaho We hear about, and see glimpses of these fringe movements. Redoubters keep pouring in to my community, and they are by in large, a very negative force in our town. They vote to defund the schools, roads and other things you need to have a functional society, and they open carry guns around making people feel uncomfortable. Lately they have been harassing and Intimidating the Black Lives Matter protesters. These protesters were mostly high school girls. During the protest they were followed though town by men with guns. I’m certain they call themselves “Patriots.” The state representative for my district, Heather Scott, drove to Oregon to be part of the stand off with the Bundy’s et al. This is when she was being paid by the people of Idaho to be a public servant. She is our Matt Shay. This podcast was refreshing, just because I know that people outside of my area know more about what we are going thought here! Most people in North Idaho are NOT like these people. But seriously- Google Heather Scott.

Exceptional Podcast

Well written, objective journalism wrapped in engaging storytelling. You take the journey with the podcasters and experience their evolving perspectives as they explore fringe extremist groups in the US. Listeners come away with a clear sense of the irony in these groups’ beliefs: a goal of achieving ’freedom’ and ’liberty’ in a rigid, intolerant, and hate-filled theocracy. In short: extremist Christianity comparable only to Sharia Law they seek to exterminate.
