    A Braw Scottish Vacay, with Zander Murray

    We are back with an episode from on the road in Scotland! Luke and Bryant come to you from the land of whisky, bagpipes, kilts, and thistle. Joining them for this special episode is the incredible Zander Murray (@zandermurrayofficial on Insta). Zander made history when, as a professional footballer, he came out as gay in 2022. To start this episode, we recap the 2025 seasons for Angel City FC and LAFC, with the black and gold heading into the playoffs with an incredible mid-season signing in Son Heung-Min. At 11' the Day in Gay crisscrosses the European continent with some stories from France, Italy, England, and Spain. We also offer some thoughts on how 2025 has impacted our immigrant and trans loved ones, to let them know they are always welcome here. Then, at 18', we welcome Zander Murray to LGBT FC, and he shares about his love of and challenges with the beautiful game, finding unexpected allies, coming out, and life since then. Zander is an ambassador for the LGBTQ+ community in the beautiful game who inspires us to keep creating welcoming spaces on the pitch, in the stands, and out in the community.     Ending the 2024 Season, with Will and Harper

    We are back with a very special episode. Joining Daisy and Luke are none other than Will Ferrell (@officialwillf on Twitter) and Harper Steele (@harperjsteele on Insta). Will is a comedic legend and co-founder of LAFC, and Harper has been Will's partner in comedic writing, and she transitioned male to female as an adult. To start this episode, we quickly recap the 2024 seasons for Angel City FC and LAFC, who are both out until 2025. Then at 10'30" in, the Day in Gay covers a few big challenges facing transgender folks in the US, after which we offer some glimmers of joy to celebrate in otherwise difficult times for the LGBTQ+ community. Then, at 15', it's time for our big chat, with Will and Harper, who share why they decided to do a road trip, and film it, and what privilege means for them.     Ain't No Hood Like Motherhood

    It's LGBT FC's first-ever Mother's Day episode! Joining Daisy and Luke are two amazing mothers in LA's supporters culture community, Emily Grijalva (@xelaquetzal on Twitter) and Tiff Sanchez, who are also both members of Poderosas supporters group (@poderosas_acfc on Instagram and Twitter). First we recap an up-and-down run of form for both LAFC and Angel City FC. Then at 10' in, the Day in Gay brings some updates from state legislatures and courthouses for LGBTQ+ rights, efforts by some to ensure access in NCAA sports for transgender athletes, a possible coming out for men's footballers later this month, and a big retirement announcement in the international women's game. Then it's time to hear from our mothers, beginning at 16' with Emily Grijalva, who shares about her sons and supporting their exploration and growth. Then, at 39'30" we are joined by Tiff Sanchez, with a family of her own, talking about bringing her own approach and providing a safe space for her kids.  This is episode is our gift to the mothers in our LGBT FC family.     Be an Ally

    Daisy and Luke are celebrating an LAFC derby win and here to remind y'all to be an ally. So this episode features two LAFC podcast hosts - JR Lebert (@lafc_thescarf on Insta and Twitter) and Travis Helwig (@travishelwig on Insta and Twitter) - who themselves are straight allies to the LGBTQ+ community. There's lots to recap at the start of the show, including cool news from overseas and announcing the winner of LGBT FC's first-ever Sexiest Men's Footballer March Madness Tourney. At 15' the Day in Gay brings some ups and downs - some anti-LGBTQ+ bills dying and others rising from the dead - followed by a sweet story from the south of Spain, an unexpected story out of the women's NCAA tourney, and a big surprise from professional women's basketball. Then it's time to hear from our allies. First, at 21'30", JR Lebert, host of Defenders of the Banc (@defendthebanc on Insta and Twitter), shares about being a teacher and organizer of youth soccer leagues. And then at 48'30" Travis Helwig, host of Happy Foot Sad Foot (@happyfootsadfoot on Insta and @hafosafo on  Twitter), talks about creating community and turns the tables on our hosts.     A Rough Start to the Season

    Daisy and Luke are back! And to kick things off they recap what has been a difficult beginning to the regular season for both LAFC and ACFC. Then they share about LGBT FC's first-ever Sexiest Men's Footballer March Madness Tourney. At 14'30", the Day in Gay covers a lot of territory, including Transgender Day of Visibility, LGBTQ+ students especially vulnerable in states passing laws going after them, a story out of the USWNT, striking numbers of Gen Z'ers who identify as LGBTQ+, an LAFC story to watch, and exciting news involving an out player in the men's game.     Pride on the Pitch - with Collin Martin

    We are rolling into 2024 with North Carolina FC midfielder and, more importantly, the only currently out men's footballer in North America, Collin Martin! First, Bryant joins as guest co-host as we recap the first couple weeks of LAFC's MLS season and a big win for the US Women's National Team. Then at 10' we have a Day in Gay that brings some welcome news from across the country, an update on the tragic death of Nex Benedict, a big result for Jakub Jankto, and then queerness representing at the inaugural women's CONCACAF Gold Cup Final. Then at 18' we welcome Collin (Insta @cm7md and on Twitter/X @martcw12). He shares about his big coming out in 2018 while at Minnesota United, making him the only openly gay active men's footballer at the time, and also offers his thoughts on why more players aren't out and what it will take for a more LGBTQ+ supportive environment in the beautiful game.     Here Comes the 2024 Season!

    Are you ready for some football? Daisy and Luke are joined in studio by our local guests, Reuben and James, and we're getting hyped for LAFC's 2024 season which is just days away. LAFC have made a number of new signings, including an LAFC original who is returning to LA. Also, Pride Republic will be hosting a happy hour a couple days before we all go to BMO to cheer on the black and gold - and you're invited! At 9', the Day in Gay starts with updates on legislative battles ramping up across the country and then a tragic story out of Oklahoma. Then we find out the latest on the Mexican national football federation and that homophobic chant, a cool new film about the American Samoa football team, another nation legalizing same-sex marriage, and the first-ever *LAFC* "Day in Gay" story. Then at 17', Reuben (@roobsmcgee on Instagram) and James (@terraplanner on Instagram), supporters of LAFC and members of Pride Republic, share with us how they came to the beautiful game, found each other, and hope to see more LGBTQ+ visibility in the beautiful game. 2024 is underway and, as Daisy says, "LET'S GO."     We're 50!

    LGBT FC is 50 episodes young! Daisy and Luke are excited to celebrate this milestone with you, and with many of our past guests who offer their thoughts on this episode for how the work continues for increasing visibility and support for the LGBTQ+ community in the beautiful game. At 4' the Day in Gay updates on another series of state bills targeting LGBTQ+ people across the US, and then a story out of Spanish women's soccer and English men's soccer before some interesting news coming out of Greece. Then 13' Daisy and Luke hear from many of our past guests and reflect on getting to 50, and what lies ahead for LGBT FC. Have a Gay Day!
