You’ve evolved. Has your personal brand?

You've grown, you've changed direction, and your brand might still be introducing the old version of you. I sit down with brand and messaging strategist Hilary Hartling to talk about why that gap opens up in the first place, and what it actually takes to close it.  In this episode, Hilary Hartling and I get into personal brand evolution, the process of updating how you show up in the world so it actually matches who you've become instead of who you used to be. We talk about why an outdated personal brand keeps attracting the same old clients and opportunities, even after you've outgrown them, and why waiting to update your brand strategy just reinforces the version of you that you're trying to move past. Hilary shares how she helps entrepreneurs and experts clarify their positioning, sharpen their message, and uncover what she calls their Signature Advantage, so they can stand out and be known for what actually makes them valuable now. If you've been sensing that your website, your bio, or the way you talk about your work doesn't quite fit anymore, this conversation will help you see exactly where that gap is and what to do about it. GUEST BIO Hilary Hartling is a brand and messaging strategist and the founder of Hilary Hartling Headquarters, where she helps entrepreneurs and experts clarify their positioning, sharpen their message, and uncover their Signature Advantage so they can stand out and become known for what makes them uniquely valuable. She specializes in personal brand evolution, helping people align their brand with who they've become and where they're headed next. GUEST FREEBIE Want more from Hilary Hartling? How to Handle Difficult Situations

So much of what trips us up, in business and in life, is what happens after a difficult situation. We replay the conversation, turn the problem over and over in our head, wonder what we should have said or done differently, and wait to feel resolved before we take action. The problem is, sometimes all that thinking keeps us stuck. In this conversation, I sit down with Nancy Quinn of Profit Insiders Coaching to talk about how to get out of your head when difficult situations arise and respond with more grace and confidence. Nancy knows something about navigating challenges and starting over. Her life has included open-heart surgery with her newborn, two years of home quarantine with a toddler long before COVID, and rebuilding her business after a divorce while supporting three children. Through those experiences, she learned that challenges are inevitable, but growth is a choice. We talk about resilience, the role our mindset plays when things feel difficult, and why having the right people around you can make such a difference. Whether that support comes from a coach, peers, or a community of people who understand what you are facing, we do not have to figure everything out in our own heads. If you have ever caught yourself running the same worry in a loop, replaying what happened, or waiting until you feel completely settled before moving forward, this conversation may help you look at what happens next a little differently. GUEST BIO Nancy Quinn is the founder of Profit Insiders Coaching, where she helps interior designers turn their creative talent into profitable, sustainable businesses. Many designers are amazing at what they do but find themselves exhausted and underpaid. Nancy helps them address the pricing, systems, and mindset issues that may be holding them back so they can finally make real money doing what they love. Her own experiences rebuilding her life and career more than once have shaped her belief in resilience, growth, and the importance of community. Today, she approaches her work with a simple mindset: “Your success is my success.” Every time she helps a designer find greater clarity, confidence, or profitability, she is living out the purpose behind her work. Let's talk through what's holding you back. Paid, Protected & Profitable: How to Get Paid What You’re Worth and Protect Your Small Business

Most small business owners start by doing the work they love and assume they can deal with contracts, copyrights, and legal protection later. But later often comes after a client refuses to pay, keeps asking for more work, or uses something you created without permission. That's when the paperwork we kept putting off suddenly matters.   In this conversation, I sit down with small business attorney Sharon Tasman of HTBiz Law to talk about practical ways business owners can protect their work, set clearer expectations, and get paid what they are worth. We discuss why promising to work until a client is “satisfied” can leave you responsible for unlimited revisions, why the person who provides the contract first often has an advantage, and how a simple copyright notice can help protect the things you create. We also talk about what business owners need to consider when using AI to help create written materials and why it matters how much of the final work came from you. You do not have to become a lawyer or try to anticipate every possible problem. But understanding a few legal basics now can save you a lot of confusion, money, and frustration later. GUEST BIO Sharon Tasman founded HTBiz Law because she believes high-quality legal advice should not be affordable only to large multinational corporations. After 30 years in law and more than a decade as the founder of a woman-owned small business, she understands the additional difficulties women and members of the BIPOC community can face when starting and growing a business. Her goal is to show business owners that legal guidance does not have to be scary and that well-written contracts can be a small business owner’s best friend. Be sure to grab Sharon's free Legal Essentials Roadmap at: https://roadmap.htbizlaw.com (The roadmap outlines six essential must-haves for starting and growing a business, along with simple, free actions you can take immediately to begin protecting yourself.) Lead Through Chaos

Life can feel ridiculously chaotic, and motivation alone usually is not enough to carry you through it. If you have been trying to push through the hard stuff, this conversation will help you think differently about what it really means to lead through chaos. In this episode of Conversations Worth Your While, I sit down with Nicholas Strand, founder of Choose Your Attitude LLC, for a meaningful conversation about chaos, resilience, purpose, and the kind of inner foundation that helps us keep moving when life feels heavy. Together, Nick and I explore what it means to become more comfortable in the uncomfortable, how attitude and action work together, and why leading through chaos begins with knowing who you are. This conversation is not about pretending hard things are easy. It is about recognizing that the strength you need may already be within you, even if you have not had to rely on it this way before. As I share in this episode, life’s huge difficulties don't necessarily make you stronger. (Sometimes, they reveal just how strong you already are.) If you are someone moving through an uncertain season, a leader, entrepreneur, or high performer, this episode will help you pause, reflect, and consider your next right step. GUEST BIO Nicholas Strand is the founder of Choose Your Attitude LLC. After nearly 20 years leading production for artists including BLACKPINK, Sting, KISS, and Dave Matthews Band, Nick now helps overwhelmed founders, pressured leaders, and high performers turn chaos into forward motion. His Attitude + Action = Impact framework was inspired by the words of his late wife, Brianna: “Choose your attitude, create your life.” Today, Nick uses that philosophy, along with everything he learned leading teams through high-pressure situations, to help others move forward with greater intention and create meaningful impact. When Your Personal Life Impacts Your Business

You can leave your desk, but you can't really leave your life. In this week's Conversation,s Worth Your While episode, Serena Mastin, founder of Pulse Marketing, joins me to talk about what actually happens when your personal life spills into your business, AND the five-part framework she uses to help people show up honest without falling apart. While most of us try to keep our personal lives private at work, they are never truly separate from our business lives, no matter how hard we try to keep the two apart.  During this episode, my guest and I both share personal stories. You'll hear about Serena's childhood in witness protection, losing her husband while they ran a business together, and what it taught her about the difference between hiding and healing. As well as my own story of losing my husband suddenly twenty years ago, when I was raising three young kids alone and still had to show up at work the next week. I'll tell you about the boss who gave me the most generous gift I've ever received at work.  If you have ever felt like you were wearing a mask just to get through a workday, this conversation is for you. GUEST BIO Serena Mastin is the founder of Pulse Marketing Inc. Pulse Marketing exists to help purpose-driven businesses grow the impact they were created to make.  Serena and her team come alongside business owners as a trusted marketing partner, helping them attract the right customers, build authentic brands, and create sustainable growth.  She believes marketing is about more than generating leads; it's about connecting people with businesses that genuinely improve their lives, allowing entrepreneurs to create opportunities, serve their communities, and leave a legacy that extends far beyond profits. The Hidden Tool You Have to Find Your True Path

If you've ever made a big decision and then spent months wondering whether you got it right, this conversation will give you a much simpler place to start looking for the answer. In this episode of Conversations Worth Your While, I sit down with Wayfinder life coach and somatic movement facilitator Arlyn Alderdice to talk about the body compass, the internal guidance system every one of us already carries, and almost none of us were taught to trust.  Arlyn and I dig into what a genuine "yes" actually feels like in the body, what a hard "no" feels like, and the things that get in the way of hearing it clearly, from old trauma to well-meaning overthinking.  GUEST BIO: Arlyn Alderdice is a Wayfinder Life Coach trained to incorporate Internal Family Systems Protocols in her work, as well as a SomaSource Leader trained as a Somatic Movement Facilitator.
