SWIFT is the current global standard for sending remittances, but it’s an outdated messaging system that doesn’t include settlement. Ripple provides a near instant money settlement system for financial institutions that removes the need for those institutions to prefund in destination countries. That alone is a billion-dollar problem.  XRP truly is a revolutionary digital asset as it represents the opportunity to own a piece of the internet of value. You may have invested into dot com companies from 1995-2001, buying shares in companies like Amazon and Ebay, but you didn’t have an opportunity to buy into the internet protocols themselves, whereas with XRP you can buy into it, owning a fraction of this value transfer protocol that other companies will build systems and applications on top of.  This video essay is a fair assessment of Ripple and the digital asset XRP. Let it be known that Ripple is a software company that utilises XRP, the open source distributed ledger technology. The complete digitisation of the global financial system has been accelerated due to the events that are unfolding and this pandemic.  ₿itcoin has been called “rat-poison squared’ by arguably the world’s greatest investor, Warren Buffet, but… is he saying this because he has $79.9 billion conventional US dollars to protect?  It is my belief that cryptocurrencies and Blockchain technology will be the largest asset class in existence. That’s because majority of the traditional asset classes will transition onto a digitised ledger for immutable records, transparency, low cost, speed and efficiency. Examples of assets that will transition onto a Blockchain-based system includes real estate, commodities, currencies and derivatives, just to name a few.  We are ushering in the second era of the internet, the Internet of Value (IOV). Information can move in seconds, but money can take days to move from point A to point B. Low income earners have been known to pay $50 or more in fees to send money back home. If they have $200 to send, that’s a large percentage of their money that goes to fees.
