    Episode 57: Interview with Jonathan the Waterfront Director

    In this episode, Joshua talks with Jonathan Stacy, the summer Waterfront Director of 2026. They talk about Johnny's years at camp, how camp has impacted him, and their favorite camp traditions. Johnny also talks about some things he hopes to convey to the staff, campers, and parents this summer! Greetings! I am Jonathan Stacy, and I am thrilled to serve as the Waterfront Director for Beaver Camp this summer. This marks my fifth year on the waterfront, following two years as a lifeguard and two as a boating instructor. Having found refuge at the waterfront as both a camper and staff member, I feel blessed by the place that has shaped me spiritually. I still recall my own camp counselor encouraging us to put our faith in God while sailing on choppy waters; although it was challenging in the moment, we felt safe and cared for. When I am not by the water, I enjoy birdwatching, writing poetry, and playing board games with friends. I am currently a dual major in Adolescent Education and English, and I look forward to sharing my love of learning and my faith with the staff and campers this season. Grace & Peace, Jonathan Stacy

    Episode 56: Interview with Marcus the CCI

    In this episode, Joshua talks with Marcus White, the summer Challenge Course Instructor of 2026. They talk about Marcus's years at camp, how camp has impacted him, and their favorite camp traditions. Marcus also talks about some things he hopes to convey to the staff, campers, and parents this summer! Hello! My name is Marcus White, and I am from Whitesboro, New York. I am 22 years old, and this summer I will serve as the Challenge Course Instructor (CCI) at Beaver Camp. This will be my sixth summer working at Beaver Camp. In previous summers, I served as a Kitchen Aide (2021-22), Camp Counselor (2023-24), and Assistant Program Director (2025). I am currently enrolled at Houghton University, where I am dual-majoring in Inclusive Adolescence Education and History. This fall, I will begin my student teaching in Lewis County before returning to Houghton in the spring to finish my degree. Outside of camp and school, I enjoy playing the piano, painting, and spending time with friends and family. Every time I think of Beaver Camp, I am reminded of God’s faithfulness. To this day, I thank God for putting camp on my path, as it has shaped me into the man I am today. I was 18 when I accepted Christ into my heart on the back deck of Balsam, and since then, I have been striving to honor and glorify God in all I do. This past year, I have had the opportunity to take a deep dive into several passages of the Bible at school and in my personal devotions. The passage I have enjoyed studying the most comes from the Gospel of John. John 21:1-19 shows that, despite our failings and shortcomings, Jesus, with his unconditional love and forgiveness, will always be there to welcome us back with open arms. I plan to incorporate my previous summers of experience and knowledge to help make the Challenge Course a place where campers can be and feel safe while also challenging them to grow as they step out of their comfort zone to try new things or conquer previously held fears. I look forward to serving as the CCI this summer. To whoever reads this, I hope you are just as excited for the summer as I am, and I will see you at check-in!

    Episode 55: Interview with Jen the APD

    In this episode, Joshua talks with Jen Petracchi, one of the summer APD's of 2026. They talk about Jen's years at camp, how camp has impacted her, and their favorite camp traditions. Jen also talks about some things she hopes to convey to the staff, campers, and parents this summer! Hi friends! My name is Jen and I will be one of your Adventurous Pepperoni Detectives- a.k.a. APD! I recently graduated from SUNY Fredonia for Music Education and in the fall I will be a full-time music teacher near the Letchworth area. Some of my hobbies include reading, sudoku, being in nature, and hanging out with my cat, Tinkerbell! I started BC in 2023 as the rec leader and then counseled for two summers. I accepted God in my heart at a summer camp when I was in middle school!! In this chapter of life, God has been showing me the beauty of trusting Him with everything.  Psalm 34:4-9, “I sought the Lord, and He answered me..taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in Him.. for those who fear Him lack nothing"  I look forward to meeting you all!!!

    Episode 54: Interview with Kenny the APD

Kenny also talks about some things he hopes to convey to the staff, campers, and parents this summer! Hi! My name is Kenny Zehr and I am from Henderson, NY. I’m 20 years old and this summer I will be one of the Assistant Program Directors here at Beaver Camp. This is my fifth summer working at camp. Previously I have served one summer in our Teen Leadership program and three summers as a counselor and wilderness trip leader. I’m currently enrolled at SUNY Oswego where I am studying to become a history teacher. This fall will be my final semester as a wrap up student teaching. Outside of camp I enjoy hiking, hanging out with friends, and baseball. Beaver Camp has played such a big role in developing my faith and making it my own. I’m excited for this summer and the plans the Lord has in store.

    Episode 51: The Crucial Role of Support Positions, with Michael Renga!

    In this episode, Michael reunites with Joshua to discuss the past few years as Michael has been at Eagle Lake, a camp in Colorado. They also discuss Michael returning to Beaver Camp for a full-time role! They discuss differences in camp experiences, from Beaver Camp, to Eagle Lake, to other camps they've been a part of.     Episode 50: Interview with Natalie the APD

    In this episode, Joshua talks with Natalie Cunningham, one of the summer APD's of 2025. They talk about Natalie's years at camp, how camp has impacted her, and their favorite camp traditions. Natalie also talks about some things she hopes to convey to the staff, campers, and parents this summer! From Natalie: "My name is Natalie, I am 21 years old, and this summer I will be serving as one of the assistant program directors at Beaver Camp.  This is my fourth summer on staff, but the past three summers I have been a counselor and wilderness trip leader.  I recently graduated from Houghton University with a degree in Environmental Science and a minor in Bible. In the fall, I plan to look for jobs and internships, hopefully either in the conservation field or in full-time camp ministry.  Some of my hobbies include hiking, camping, playing the guitar, and softball. I was raised in a Christian home and have been blessed with wonderful parents who have raised me to know and love the Lord.  I have been active in my church from a very young age, but I didn’t begin to make my faith my own until late high school.  Prior to that, I was living a very wishy-washy faith that didn’t really go beyond Sunday morning service. Being on staff at Beaver Camp and attending college have led to an incredible amount of personal and spiritual growth for me!  I have learned a lot of hard lessons and been through some challenges, but having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ has made the hard times manageable.  I have learned to lean on Him and trust that He is molding and shaping me through the difficulties.  I am learning that on my own, I can do nothing, but in my weakness, He is strong!"
