Drop the euphemisms. Call Me Disabled. This is a new podcast from me, Poppy Field. Since my childhood, I've had a rollercoaster of experiences with my disabled identity. Living with chronic illness, chronic pain, neurodivergency, and in particular, inaccessibility. I know how complicated our relationship with disability can be. I'll be chatting with various guests about their journey of identifying as disabled, plus all the amazing and difficult in-betweens that come with it.  We'll be sharing their story and we'll discuss what we want the future to look like for everybody. Temporary, non-disabled and disabled, you included. I'm asking the world ever so subtly to drop the euphemisms.     Samantha Renke on Disabled Body Image & Fame

    What's the difference between being a disabled child and disabled adult? How do you love your disabled body? Does being a public figure "solve" disability? In this episode, Samantha and Poppy discuss the journey of identifying as disabled when born with a disability; as well as the transition of disabled child to disabled adult. Sam talks about the assumptions of being visibly disabled to society, biased perceptions that come with it, and being a disabled public figure. Sharing her experience with body image, loving her body, and how this intersects with her love of fashion. Poppy and Sam touch on how they met, and the impact Sam's identity had on Poppy finding her own disabled identity. In this episode Jameisha and Poppy discuss the murky journey of identifying as disabled when chronically ill and experiencing a dynamic disability. Jameisha spotlights the intersection of their Jamaican Caribbean British heritage, reflecting on their experience of cures and perceptions of illness through this lens.
