Called & Convicted — where calling gets discovered and conviction gets defended.   I'm Whitney Kay — entrepreneur, content & sales strategist, and discipleship leader. Fifteen-plus years building brands and mentoring founders. Six-plus years leading and discipling women through scripture in small group ministry. I've also rebuilt from the ground up more than once, from the loss of my father, abuse, years chasing worldly influences instead of God's, divorce, a season of homelessness I dug myself out of.     Conditional Generosity Is Not Generosity

    I've withheld generosity more than once and called it discernment. After hearing Sean Ryan's episode on megachurch corruption, I started filtering every giving decision through suspicion before conviction ever got a vote. And it wasn't just institutions — I've done the same thing on a street corner, hesitating to give to someone because I didn't know what they'd do with it. Two different fears, same operating question: what will they do with this, and does that determine whether I obey. In this episode I'm breaking down the difference between stewardship and control, using the Good Samaritan to show that the call to give was never contingent on having certainty about the outcome — and naming where I've let someone else's potential bad choice override my own conviction.     How to Know a Friendship Is Costing You Your Conviction

    You think you can be around anyone and stay unaffected. You can't. In this episode I'm walking through three friendships I had to let cost me something — the ones built around drugs and alcohol, the ones where I took relationship advice from people who weren't living anything close to a Christian marriage, and the ones that ran on gossip. Same pattern, three different faces: I was being shaped by what I stayed close to, whether I noticed it or not. We're going to scripture for this one — 1 Corinthians 15:33, Romans 12:2, 2 Corinthians 6:14-17, Proverbs 13:20, 1 Corinthians 5:9-11, and James 4:4 — to make the case for why proximity to compromise isn't neutral, even when it's passive. And I'll show you where the line is between that and what Jesus actually modeled with people who were still in process, so this doesn't turn into permission to write people off.     Why I Didn't Let My Daughter Watch The Minions & Monsters Movie

    Witchcraft in a trailer built for six-year-olds. So I went and watched the whole thing. My daughter wanted to watch the new Minions movie. I pulled up the trailer to check it first — and less than two minutes in, I felt it. Witchcraft, in a preview for a film rated for six-year-olds. I could've stopped there. Instead, I sent my daughter to camp and went to see the whole movie myself — phone notes in hand — because I wasn't going to build a public conviction on a 90-second clip. In this episode: what's actually in Minions & Monsters, the spellbook and summoning imagery I documented frame by frame, the alcohol-soaked "good life" the film keeps selling as happiness, and the scripture that names both of those patterns plainly — Deuteronomy 18:10-12, Isaiah 5:20, 1 John 2:15-16, and more.     I Got Blocked, Then Made It Worse

    I got blocked and removed from a neighborhood Facebook group — and before the hurt even landed, I'd already decided to build my own. It felt like initiative. It was avoidance. This episode is the conviction I didn't see coming: the difference between building community and building a bypass around the people who hurt you. This week I'm getting specific and getting convicted in real time. I'm walking you through the neighborhood group situation that felt small on the surface and turned into a direct confrontation with the Good Samaritan — a story I've heard a hundred times, until it stopped letting me off the hook.     Responsibility Isn't a Calling

    I built a business show for years because I was good at it. Being good at something and being called to it are not the same thing — and it took me a long time to stop confusing the two. This is the first episode of the Called + Convicted relaunch, and it's the one where I stop keeping the quiet part quiet. For years I sat on convictions I wasn't saying out loud — about the content I was consuming, the parenting patterns I inherited without questioning, the choices I was making that had nothing to do with strategy and everything to do with truth. I kept building a podcast about something else entirely while the Lord was working on something underneath it.   Here's what I've come to understand: I wasn't avoiding this direction because I doubted it. I was avoiding it because the other one felt like responsibility, and this one felt like passion — and somewhere along the way I decided responsibility was supposed to win. It doesn't. Not when it's built on obligation instead of conviction.   In this episode, I'm breaking down what biblical conviction actually is — the Holy Spirit's work of revealing truth and pointing us toward repentance, not the condemnation the enemy wants you to confuse it with. I'm walking through what it means to let scripture correct you instead of confirm what you already wanted to believe.
