How to Overcome Perfectionism and Start Now

What if the thing standing between you and excellence isn't more preparation... it's your willingness to start messy? In this episode of Candid Coach Conversations, Kimberly Boyd sits down with Amanda Kaufman... entrepreneur, certified Live Life Fully coach, former competitive figure skater, and self-proclaimed dreamer with a spreadsheet... to talk about breaking up with perfection, the tax we pay for not moving, and how massive imperfect action is the only road to excellence. Amanda takes us back to the rink in the Arctic town where she grew up skating five days a week. She'd learned every other jump quickly, but the axle... the only jump that takes off from a forward edge... refused to come. Introduced to it at 11 or 12, she didn't land it until 16, and blaming the coaches, the tiny club, and the axle itself never put it on the ice. What did was letting go of what she'd been told it should feel like and trying a different feeling... and once she landed one, she could suddenly land them with double jumps stacked on the back. From there she and Kimberly trace the same pattern through a rubbery French omelet that became a mean one, 50 pancake recipes on the way to the excellent ones, the peanut butter and jelly experiment that shows how angry we get when the world ignores our exact instructions, and the spreadsheet Amanda uses to model possible futures... including the move she's been circling for 15 years. In this conversation: ⛸️ The axle she chased from age 12 to 16... and the change of mind that finally landed it, doubles and all 💸 The "perfect tax"... what every extra cycle of overthinking really costs high performers 🍳 A rubbery French omelet, 50 pancake recipes, and the difference between perfectionism and commitment to outcome 🥪 The peanut butter and jelly experiment... what happens when the world doesn't follow our exact instructions 📊 Dreamer with a spreadsheet: modeling possible futures on paper until the right options start to pull ahead 🚀 Start where you stand... the reason atomic habits are overrated when the change you want is big One line from Amanda worth sitting with: "I don't give a ptoot about perfection. I want excellence. And here's the big difference... to achieve excellence requires obsession." About Amanda Kaufman Amanda is an entrepreneur and a certified Live Life Fully coach who works with high achievers and high performers... the people who know the reward of excellence and the trap of needing everything perfect before it starts. She coaches from lived experience: figure skater, stepmother, recovering perfectionist, and a dreamer with a spreadsheet for everything (Thanksgiving dinner included). Her invitation is simple... fail in private first, learn from every attempt, and take a bigger leap than you think is necessary, because you can always pull back. What if the coaching that changes your life could follow you into the place you spend most of it... work? In this episode of Candid Coach Conversations, certified Live Life Fully coaches Shuntá Montgomery and Mai Lee Eskelund take over the mic to introduce The Collective... the newest branch of Live Life Fully, created to bring personal growth into the professional realm. Mai Lee walks through everything the team has been building. There's the coach bench itself... coaches with real miles in the educator world, the leadership and C-suite world, and the entrepreneurial world, with doors open to any industry: oil and gas, real estate, daycares, anywhere professionals want support growing in their roles. There's the first Collective retreat, already in the books, where Shuntá, Mai Lee, Tiffanie, Donna, Kimberly, and Amanda all spoke. How to Set and Achieve Your Goals with Confidence

What if the only thing standing between you and the thing you started is a date on the calendar? In this episode of Candid Coach Conversations, Kimberly Boyd sits down with Savannah Burke... certified Live Life Fully coach, Houston-based writer, and the creator of a 365-day journal and planner... to talk about setting goals you actually complete, and the courage it takes to put your own story into someone else's hands. Back in 2025, sitting at a red light not long after the first Renewal retreat, Savannah heard a voice tell her it would be a good idea to write her own journal and planner. She said yes and got to work. Monthly goals for work, family, and life. Daily pages for what you need to do, what you'd like to do, and how you'll handle the thing that trips you up. An evening recap of what went well and what you're grateful for. A mindfulness page at the end of every month... a mandala to color, a Sudoku, a word search built from the Live Life Fully curriculum. And 365 journal prompts, broken into four volumes, one for each season of a life. Then she stopped. Not for a reason she wanted to say out loud. The fear underneath it was small and enormous at the same time: what if nobody else sees the benefit? A friend's new book helped loosen it. Honest conversations loosened it more. And one coach asked the question that broke it open... what would it take to do seven a day? Seven a week? By the end of this conversation Savannah has roughly a hundred prompts left, simple math she refuses to do in her head, and something she walked in without: a date. September 1st. Proofread, print-ready, and headed for the Live Life Fully store before the last 90 days of the year begin. In this conversation: 🚦 The red light in 2025 where the whole idea arrived... and the yes she said back 📓 Inside the journal and planner: monthly goals, daily pages, evening recaps, and 365 prompts across four seasons 🌫️ The place she stalled, and the fear she didn't want to admit she was carrying ⏱️ The question that got her moving again... what would it take to do seven a day? 📅 Kimberly's timeline push and the deadline Savannah set live on the mic 🍂 The last 90 days of the year, and the client whose new year doesn't start until April 1st One line from Savannah worth sitting with: "Your story and your view can always help someone else. You could be the light in someone else's darkness." About Savannah Burke Savannah is a certified Live Life Fully coach who helps people name the obstacle in front of them, learn from it, and take the next step anyway. Her own current project is a 365-day journal and planner built for the seasons of a life... goals, daily pages, evening recaps, and a prompt for every single day of the year. It's headed to the Live Life Fully store: https://llfully.com/shop. She keeps sticky notes on her mirrors and doors, she'd rather be in the mountains than on a beach, and she will happily turn a 20-minute clarity call into a coffee meeting. How Future Casting Can Transform Your Life

What would your future self say if she were sitting across the table from you right now? In this episode of Candid Coach Conversations, Kimberly Boyd sits down with Teresa Anderson... certified Live Life Fully coach and published author of The Table... to talk about future casting: meeting the version of you that's still out ahead, and the daily choices that decide whether she ever gets to exist. Teresa's framing is simple and it lands hard. The future isn't waiting for you. It's being built by you, in the choices you make when nobody is applauding. The distance between your present and your purpose is measured in daily decisions. So she put her future self at the table and started asking real questions... would you be proud of who I am today? What advice do you have for me? And the one she'd ask first: what do you need from me today so that you can exist? Her husband is a respiratory therapist, and she shares what he hears from people at the end of their lives. Nobody says they should have worked more. They talk about the people they love and the dream they never got around to. Teresa suggests starting close... six months to a year out... and building the muscle from there. Kimberly brings a client with two kids under twelve who is working on her health now so she can get up and down off the floor easily with grandchildren who don't exist yet. And she shares her own practice: when something feels bigger than possible, list every place you've already succeeded, starting with the fact that you learned to walk. You fell a bazillion times. You walk today. As Teresa puts it, one courageous decision can introduce you to a completely different tomorrow. In this conversation: 🪑 Your future self across the table... and the first question Teresa would ask: what do you need from me today so that you can exist? 🏥 What her husband hears at the hospital, and the regret nobody ever names 📆 Starting close... six months to a year out, then building the muscle to see further 👵 The client with two kids under twelve who's training now for grandchildren she doesn't have yet 🚶‍♀️ Kimberly's proof list: you learned to walk, and you fell more times than anyone counted 🏷️ The labels we accept along the way... and the fact that you were born into a position of courage One line from Teresa worth sitting with: "Every day you're either rehearsing your past or preparing for your future." About Teresa Anderson: Teresa is a certified Live Life Fully coach and the published author of The Table, a book about the stories we carry and the places where pain gets transformed into purpose. She coaches around legacy, courage, and the future you're quietly building with every ordinary decision... and she has a gift for asking the question you were avoiding. The Power of Retreats and Intentional Self-Care

When was the last time someone poured into you... instead of you doing all the pouring? In this episode of Candid Coach Conversations, certified Live Life Fully coaches Mai Lee Eskelund and Shunta Montgomery take over the mic from Kimberly Boyd... and use it to pull back the curtain on the Live Life Fully retreats: how they came to be, what actually happens inside one, and the case for taking care of yourself before you take care of everyone else. Shunta traces her path from wanting to be a motivational speaker before she even knew conferences existed, to presenting in her counseling supervision hours because her coach nudged her, to her first real stage... the homeless shelter where her mom went from resident to kitchen manager. She showed up dressed as an airplane captain, handed out passports, and welcomed everyone aboard Self-Love Flight 101. Then, at Kimberly's very first "When Life Gives You Lemons, Make Lemonade" retreat, she made a bold declaration out loud... that she'd be speaking at the next one. Five retreats later, she hasn't left the stage: sun goddess, butterfly, boxer, lighthouse keeper, each costume carrying its own message. Mai Lee shares her side too... how her own first retreat, not long after she landed in the Houston area, sent her home asking how she could help create that experience for others, and what her military background taught her watching infantrymen who scoffed at the idea of feelings walk out of retreats with greater insight and connection. Together they preview what an attendee actually gets... three to six speakers, somatic exercises, a sneak peek at silent retreats... and the details on Planting Seeds for 2027, coming October 3. In this conversation: ✈️ Self-Love Flight 101... a captain's uniform, passports at the door, and a first stage at the shelter that helped Shunta's mom rebuild her life 🗣️ The bold declaration Shunta made out loud at her first LLF retreat... and the five retreat stages it has put her on since 🥊 Me versus me: the boxer costume, the blame we hand to the past and the bosses, and the moment control comes back to you 🎖️ What Mai Lee watched retreats unlock in big infantrymen who scoffed at the idea of feelings 🤫 Eight silent hours, one adult coloring sheet, and the silent-retreat sneak peek coming to Live Life Fully 🌱 Reset, refocus, recharge... what an attendee really walks away with, and what's planned for Planting Seeds for 2027 One line from Shunta worth sitting with: "If you don't start taking care of yourself first, you won't be there to help and take care of others." 🌱 Planting Seeds for 2027 happens October 3, and early bird pricing is still open. Save your seat here: https://llfully.com/planting-seeds About Shunta Montgomery Shunta is a certified Live Life Fully coach and speaker who has always believed she was built for greatness... and that greatness starts with taking care of you. She began speaking during her counseling supervision hours, took her first stage at the shelter that poured into her mom, and has since spoken at five Live Life Fully retreats, always in full costume and always with a surprise no one sees until the day of. Her message stays the same in every room: you are important, and you matter. Reframe Your Self-Talk for Greater Joy

What if the words you say to yourself are the ones your brain believes most? In this episode of Candid Coach Conversations, Kimberly Boyd sits down with Tiffanie Hughes... certified Live Life Fully coach, and creator of the RE:YOU framework... to talk about the quiet phrases we repeat to ourselves all day long, and how rewording them changes what we believe, what we do, and how much joy we let in. Tiffanie hears it from the couch, the phone, and the Zoom screen: "I'm so stupid." "I can't." "I'm just tired." And she rewords it in real time. "I can't clean the house" becomes "I'm choosing not to clean the house right now, because other things matter more." "I'm stupid" becomes "I didn't know... yet." She shares the sock she never perfected when she was learning to knit (and the really good scarf she did make), the conversation with her sister that taught her the word "safe" isn't actually safe, and the rose garden she planted by scent instead of color... because for what purpose would she grow flowers she can't smell? Along the way, she and Kimberly explore how "I am tired" quietly becomes an identity and how "I feel tired" hands it back. In this conversation: 🗣️ The two little words Tiffanie won't let stand... "I can't"... and the rewording that gives you back ownership 🧶 The imperfect sock that ended her knitting days... and the lesson she walked away with instead of "failure." 🧠 "I am tired" vs. "I feel tired"... your brain is always listening, and it believes what you tell it 🕊️ The reason "safe" isn't safe... and how calm and peace can be practiced anywhere, even a crowded subway 🌹 A garden of roses chosen by scent, not color... and picking Estonia over Hungary for the raw, untainted experience 🎬 Her one-word takeaway... perspective (yes, like Ratatouille): if the lens is muddy, wipe it off One line from Tiffanie worth sitting with: "It is the lens in which you're choosing to see through. And if you have a muddy lens, all you gotta do is wipe it off." About Tiffanie Hughes Tiffanie is a certified Live Life Fully coach who helps people notice the words they live by... and choose better ones. She is the creator of RE:YOU — Reclaim Your Identity. How Clarity and Agency Transform Your Life

What if the freedom you've been missing is simply a new choice you haven't made yet? In this episode of Candid Coach Conversations, Kimberly Boyd sits down with Amanda Kaufman... certified Live Life Fully coach, entrepreneur, and Business Mentor at Live Life Fully... to talk about how clarity and agency transform your life. It opens with a storm. Kimberly's house was full for Meredith's birthday... every bed taken, cots bought, forty-two made-to-order sandwiches and nine hundred bags of chips loaded onto a borrowed boat headed for Pine Island (theirs quit on the Fourth of July, and a kind friend handed over his). Then the radar missed by a couple of hours and the rain came down so hard it felt like hail... until the sun popped out like nothing had happened. Which is exactly where the conversation lands: you can't control the storm. You can control your intention inside it. From there, Amanda traces her own road out of corporate America... the broad early intentions, the clarity that only showed up once she got moving, and the skills gap that kept her waiting until she stopped picturing the Law & Order version of starting a business. No judge, no fancy lawyer... just an online filing she finished in forty-five minutes while breastfeeding her baby, who's nine now. She and Kimberly dig into OPOs (other people's opinions), the difference between intention and certainty, and the sandwich she eats before believing a single stuck thought. In this conversation: ⛈️ Forty-two made-to-order sandwiches, a borrowed boat, and the storm that crashed Meredith's birthday... again ⚖️ The Law & Order version of starting a business Amanda imagined... and the forty-five-minute filing she actually did, baby in arms 💼 "Everyone who ever makes money is in business"... some of us just sell all of our hours to one buyer 🗣️ OPOs... other people's opinions, the operating system most of us never chose for ourselves 🥪 Amanda's favorite move on a no-options day: eat a sandwich first, because sometimes the problem is physiological 👑 Agency, honoring the struggle, and being CEO of your life even inside rules you didn't write One line from Amanda worth sitting with: "You do have freedom, and that freedom is to make a new choice." About Amanda Kaufman Amanda is a certified Live Life Fully coach, entrepreneur, and Business Mentor at Live Life Fully. After a long corporate career, she chose the entrepreneurial road and now helps people close the gap between the life they're tolerating and the life they'd pick on purpose... starting with clarity, agency, and one doable first step. How to Turn Fear into Fuel and Live Fully

What if the life you keep postponing only needs the next ten minutes to begin? In this episode of Candid Coach Conversations, Kimberly Boyd sits down with Savannah Burke... certified Live Life Fully coach, weekly newsletter writer, and returning guest... to talk about how to stop waiting to be ready and start using fear as fuel. Savannah knows every reason to wait. Until the hair is right. Until the skin is clearer. Until she's down X amount of pounds. Then she realized she'd be waiting for the rest of her life to begin... so she did the first thing. She started sending a weekly newsletter every Wednesday and scheduling it to Facebook, and the feedback came from people she never knew were reading... like her husband's cousin, who'd quietly looked at her daily affirmations every single day without ever leaving a comment. And after losing four people in eight months, the grief newsletter she finally dared to share broke the dam... readers reached out with their own stories, and what she feared would be embarrassing became a meeting of the hearts. From there, she and Kimberly get wonderfully practical: the garage Savannah had to clear before Monday's battery install, tackled with a ten-minute timer that turned into another ten, then fifteens... the three finds she listed on Facebook (one already sold)... Kimberly's confession that "wash, dry, and fold all at once or not at all" was quietly costing her a whole day within the day... and the fourteen-day trip to Germany that Savannah and her husband booked without waiting to feel ready, because their favorite band was touring one last time. In this conversation: 📨 The weekly Wednesday newsletter Savannah almost never sent... and the cousin who'd been reading every post without saying a word 💔 The grief newsletter that broke the dam after losing four people in eight months... and turned strangers into a meeting of the hearts ⏲️ The ten-minute garage timer that grew into a full cleanout, three Facebook listings, and one item already sold 🧺 Kimberly's laundry confession... how "all at once or not at all" thinking was stealing a whole day out of her week 🧠 Analysis paralysis, the shame it drags in behind it, and Savannah's decision to carry neither one anymore ✈️ Fourteen days in Germany for their favorite band's final tour... booked the moment they decided, not the moment they felt ready One line from Savannah worth sitting with: "Nobody's guaranteed a tomorrow. Now is the time to do it. And if it doesn't all get done, it will still be there." About Savannah Burke Savannah is a certified Live Life Fully coach who believes the first step matters more than the perfect plan. Every Wednesday she sends out her newsletter... a little bit of her, a little bit of wisdom... and she coaches from the middle of a real life: a garage mid-cleanout, a grief still tender, a timer set for ten minutes.
