The best ideas come from letting go

This week’s Sesh starts with business lessons that usually only come after failing a few times. We talk about why trying to do everything yourself eventually becomes the bottleneck, and how the right partnerships let people focus on what they actually do best. From there, the conversation takes its usual detour through movies, gaming, construction, motorcycles, camping, cannabis, and a surprising amount of joint rolling technique. Along the way we dive into: Why delegation is one of the hardest skills to learnThe difference between creators and operatorsBuilding systems instead of carrying everything yourselfThe psychology behind changing your own behavior instead of trying to change everyone elseHow camping became an unexpected reset for mental healthWhy Margin Call might be one of the best business movies you’ve never watchedRevisiting Troy with a completely different perspectiveWhether technology is advancing as fast as it couldThe evolution of modern video games and endless updatesMotorcycle trip planning and adventure prepOur latest Gran Turismo obsession and favorite rally carsJoint rolling tips, resin tricks, and why we’ve become daily joint smokersSometimes the best conversations don’t have a script. They just wander wherever curiosity takes them, and somehow still circle back to becoming a better human. Candy Fumez | Sweet Candy, Bright Vibes & A Surprisingly Chill Hybrid

Candy strains can be hit or miss. Some lean all-in on flavor but leave the effects feeling flat. Others bring the gas but lose the sweetness. Candy Fumez manages to walk the middle. This week we’re checking out Candy Fumez from Find by Tryke, a hybrid bred from Zkittlez × Sherbanger. It brings together candy-forward terpenes with a little fuel, citrus, and earthy funk to create a strain that feels more playful than overwhelming.  (Breakwater Dispensary) For us, this wasn’t a couch-lock strain or one that demanded productivity. It landed somewhere in the sweet spot between the two. Think video games, movies, hanging out with friends, or spending time outside without feeling glued to the couch. One thing we both noticed was how light the experience felt. It was mentally uplifting without becoming racy, while the body stayed relaxed without feeling heavy. Your experience may vary depending on your tolerance and the specific batch you have. Zkittlez × Sherbanger (Breakwater Dispensary) Limoneneβ-CaryophylleneLinaloolThese terpenes are commonly associated with bright citrus aromas, peppery spice, floral notes, and relaxing tendencies, although individual effects vary from person to person. (Groove Solventless) Sweet candyCitrusTropical fruitBerryLight dieselCreamy sherbet finishThe aroma promised a lot of sweetness, but once we started smoking, we noticed something neither of us expected. It reminded us more of a smooth, hoppy beer than an overly sugary candy strain. As the session went on, more citrus and sweet notes started coming through. For us, Candy Fumez felt: Uplifting without being overly stimulatingRelaxed but still functionalGreat for gamingEasy to socialize onMore head-focused than body-heavySilly, lighthearted, and conversation-friendlyOne funny observation was what Brandon started calling a “squirrel strain.” Ideas would come quickly, but every once in a while we’d completely lose our train of thought before jumping into the next topic. If you’ve ever had one of those classic cannabis moments where you stop mid-sentence wondering what you were saying, you’ll probably understand exactly what we mean. GamingWatching moviesHanging out with friendsRelaxing after workCasual hikesCreative conversationsPros Pleasant, upbeat moodFunctional hybridEasygoing effectsNice flavor evolution throughout the sessionGood introduction for newer consumers when dosed conservativelyCons Flower was drier than expectedCottonmouth showed up later in the sessionEffects didn’t last as long for Brandon compared to heavier hybridsJoint felt stronger than vaporizing, while vaporizing provided a slower, longer-lasting experience for usCandy Fumez isn’t trying to knock you into the couch. It’s the kind of strain you reach for when you still want to enjoy whatever you’re doing. Whether that’s firing up your favorite game, getting outside, or spending the evening laughing with friends, this one stayed surprisingly balanced from start to finish. If you’re in Utah and see Find by Tryke’s Candy Fumez, we’d say it’s worth checking out, especially if you’re looking for a flavorful hybrid that leans toward a brighter, happier experience without feeling overwhelming. Have you tried Candy Fumez? We’d love to hear how your experience compared to ours. Keep the Mic on. Fuel the movement. Keep the conversation going. What You Notice Changes Everything | The Sesh

Most of us spend our lives trying to fix ourselves. But what if the first step isn’t fixing anything at all? This week, Brandon shares a project he’s been quietly building that started with one simple idea: patterns matter more than labels. Instead of putting people into personality boxes, what if we paid attention to the behaviors, reactions, and habits that quietly shape our relationships every day? That conversation turns into something much bigger. We dive into why we feel the need to be right, how awareness changes communication, why arguments usually have nothing to do with winning, and how simply noticing your own patterns can completely change the way you interact with the people you care about. Along the way we also get into dating, parenting, martial arts, motorcycles, modern technology, emotional triggers, and why sometimes the biggest breakthrough comes from asking yourself one uncomfortable question: “Am I trying to understand… or am I just trying to be right?” If you’ve ever wanted to communicate better, understand yourself a little more clearly, or simply become more intentional with the people around you, this is a conversation worth sitting with. Why awareness is more powerful than self-judgmentThe difference between patterns and personality labelsWhy trying to be “right” usually costs more than it gives backHow emotional states influence communicationThe hidden value of observing instead of reactingLessons from dating events, parenting, and everyday conversationsWhy noticing small behaviors can create massive personal growthHow changing what you pay attention to changes your entire experienceSometimes the biggest changes don’t come from becoming someone new. Sometimes they come from finally seeing what was there all along. Have a question or topic you’d love us to cover? Send it our way. We love building these conversations around the questions you’re actually asking. If you’re enjoying Cannabis School, follow the show, leave us a review, and share this episode with someone who’s always trying to figure people out… or themselves. Keep the Mic on. Blueberry Headband | Quiet the Noise, Enjoy the Moment

What happens when you take two classic strains and end up with something that doesn’t demand your attention, but gently pulls you into the present? This week we’re talking about Blueberry Headband, a strain that surprised us in all the right ways. We expected more of that classic “headband” pressure, but what we found was something much calmer. This one slowly quieted the mental chatter, softened the edges of the day, and made it incredibly easy to simply exist for a while. If your brain feels like it’s running twenty tabs at once, this episode might hit home. Our honest first impressions of Blueberry HeadbandThe unique tea-like flavor with subtle berry notesWhy the effects felt more calming than mentally stimulatingHow this strain helped quiet racing thoughts without knocking us outWhen we’d actually choose this strain over othersWhy slowing down can sometimes create more creativity than speeding upGenetics: Blueberry × Headband THC: 23.82% Top Terpenes: TerpinolenePineneFor us, Blueberry Headband started with a gentle pressure around the face before slowly moving into the head. Instead of delivering an intense cerebral experience, it created a calm, steady feeling that made everything feel… quieter. Not sleepy. Not couch locked. Just peaceful. This isn’t the strain we’d grab to brainstorm a business plan or dive into a complicated project. It’s the one we’d reach for after a long day when we want the constant mental noise to finally settle down. Think herbal tea with a light berry finish. The flavor stayed surprisingly consistent throughout the entire session, with earthy, slightly sweet notes and just enough blueberry to remind you where the genetics came from. Evening wind-downCampfiresHikingLongboard or scenic drivesListening to musicGuided meditationSitting outside and doing absolutely nothingSometimes that’s exactly what you need. Blueberry Headband isn’t trying to be the loudest strain in the room. It’s the one that reminds you to slow down. If you’ve been craving a strain that helps quiet the mental chaos without completely shutting you down, this one is absolutely worth checking out. Keep the Mic on. Fuel the movement. Connection Crisis

This week starts with a joint, a conversation about why joints canoe, and somehow ends up exploring modern dating, loneliness, friendship, community, and why so many people feel disconnected despite being more connected than ever.   We talk about the kind of cannabis events we’d actually want to attend, why sharing a joint creates a different kind of social experience, and how cannabis seems to naturally bring people together in ways alcohol often doesn’t.   Along the way we get into dating culture, texting versus phone calls, voice memos, building meaningful connections, and Brandon’s growing passion project around helping people find community instead of just another app or service.   It’s one of those episodes where the strain is great, but the conversation is the real reason you stayed. Why LA Pop Rocks keeps becoming a favorite daytime smokeThe trick to preventing joints from canoeingCannabis date nights and infused dinner ideasWhy sharing cannabis feels different than sharing alcoholCreating spaces where people can actually connectNerd nights, D&D, gaming, cosplay, and finding your peopleAziz Ansari’s Modern Romance and what dating has becomeWhy younger generations hate phone callsThe rise of voice memos and why we love themBuilding tools instead of creating dependencyLoneliness, community, and what we’ve lost sociallyGym motivation, aging, testosterone, and staying healthyCorvette slander (sorry, not sorry)People aren’t necessarily lacking options. They’re lacking connection. We’ve built a world where you can instantly talk to anyone, anywhere, anytime. Yet a lot of people still feel isolated, unseen, and disconnected. The answer probably isn’t another app. It might just be more real conversations, more shared experiences, and more reasons to sit across from another human being and actually get to know them.   A good joint is great. A good conversation is better. And when you can get both at the same time, that’s where the magic tends to happen.  Keep the Mic on. Fuel the movement. Keep the conversation going. LA Pop Rocks

What happens when a strain smells like a bag of candy, smokes smooth over a year after packaging, and somehow leaves a minty little surprise on the finish? This week we’re breaking down LA Pop Rocks, a flavorful indica-leaning strain that caught us off guard with its balance. It delivers sweet fruit-forward aromas, a surprisingly smooth smoke, and effects that feel social, relaxing, and uplifting without immediately gluing you to the couch.   We dig into the genetics, terpene profile, flavor notes, and why this one became an easy recommendation for daytime or evening use if you’re looking for relaxation without feeling completely checked out. We also wander into road trip philosophy, dating events, Mario Kart drinking games, and the strange ways cannabis tends to make conversations go places you never expected.   Breaking down LA Pop Rocks and our first impressionsSweet candy, fruit, cheese, and mint flavor notesWhy this flower stayed sticky and fresh long after packagingGenetics: Triangle Kush Bx2 × Z AnimalTerpenes: Beta-Caryophyllene, Limonene, and HumuleneEffects: Euphoric, uplifting, social, and relaxingWhy Brandon keeps reaching for heavier indicas latelyCannabis vs alcohol in social settingsRoad trips as the ultimate compatibility testThe dating event idea we’d actually like to see happenStrain: LA Pop Rocks Genetics: Triangle Kush Bx2 × Z Animal  Dominant Terpenes: Beta-CaryophylleneLimoneneHumulene  Reported Effects: EuphoriaRelaxationIncreased sociabilityUplifted moodMinimal couch lock  Flavor Notes: Sweet candyFruityLight cheese funkMinty finish  LA Pop Rocks is a good reminder that “indica” doesn’t always mean sleepy. The Sesh: Stories, Beliefs, Politics & Why People See the Same Thing Differently

This week’s Sesh starts with a simple idea: stories shape everything. The way we see the world, the people we trust, the beliefs we hold, and even the things we’re willing to fight over usually come down to the stories we’ve accepted as true. Sometimes those stories help us make sense of reality. Sometimes they become the thing that keeps us from seeing it clearly.   From there, we wander through government distrust, politics, religion, media narratives, community, forgiveness, personal responsibility, and the challenge of trying to understand people who see the world completely differently than we do.   We talk about why people can look at the exact same event and walk away with completely different conclusions. We explore how identity influences belief, how perception shapes reality, and why it’s becoming harder for people to have conversations without immediately dividing themselves into teams.   Along the way we get into Christianity, Mormonism, race, forgiveness, political tribalism, human behavior, and the idea that every person is carrying their own version of reality based on the experiences that shaped them.   As usual, we don’t solve any of the world’s problems. But we definitely spend some time poking at them. 😆 Why stories are one of the most powerful forces in human historyGovernment trust, skepticism, and declassified informationPattern recognition and understanding peoplePolitical tribalism and identityThe difference between facts, perception, and beliefProperty rights, protest, and personal responsibilityRace, media narratives, and public perceptionForgiveness and why it’s often more about healing yourselfChristianity, Mormonism, and religious identityWhy no two people experience the same belief system exactly the same wayCommunity versus divisionThe challenge of understanding perspectives that aren’t your own  Most people aren’t reacting to reality. They’re reacting to the story they believe about reality. The more we understand the stories people carry, the easier it becomes to understand why they see the world the way they do. That doesn’t mean we have to agree. It just means we might stop assuming everyone who disagrees with us is the enemy.   Keep the Mic on. Fuel the movement. Keep the conversation going. Root Beer GMO

Some strains disappear before you’re supposed to record the episode. Root Beer GMO was one of those strains. 😆 Jesse brought home a bag for the show, and somewhere between “I’ll save some for the episode” and “Where did it all go?” there was basically nothing left except the nug we managed to hang onto for recording. That’s usually a pretty good sign.   In this episode, we break down one of our favorite GMO crosses we’ve had in Utah and talk about why Root Beer GMO quickly became a repeat purchase. Why Root Beer GMO disappeared faster than expectedThe genetics behind this unique crossHow GMO continues to be one of our favorite flavor foundationsThe surprisingly noticeable root beer notes hidden in the profileWhy this strain shines in social settingsChatty strains versus distracting strainsThe terpene profile driving the experienceHow different consumption methods affect the overall experienceWhy some strains become automatic re-buysUtah flower quality and what Dragonfly continues to do well  Strain: Root Beer GMO Genetics: Root Beer × GMO Grower: Dragonfly Wellness (Betty) Dominant Terpenes: β-CaryophylleneHumuleneLimonene  This isn’t one of those strains that punches you in the face with root beer from the first hit. The root beer notes show up more on the finish. The initial inhale brings the familiar funky, savory GMO character, but the longer you sit with it, the more those subtle root beer notes start creeping in through the aftertaste. It’s one of those strains where you keep going back for another hit because you’re trying to figure out exactly what you’re tasting.   The word that kept coming up throughout this episode was chatty. Not distracted. Not scattered. Not bouncing off the walls. Chatty. Root Beer GMO felt like one of those strains that naturally keeps conversations flowing. Every topic led to another topic, then another story, then another rabbit hole. Before long, the episode turned into exactly the kind of conversation this strain seems built for.   It’s social, uplifting, and happy without feeling overly energetic. That said, if you keep pushing it, the haze starts creeping in. The more we consumed, the more that classic “where was I going with this?” cloud started showing up.   Not every great strain needs to knock you into the couch. Sometimes the best cannabis experiences are the ones that keep the conversation going, make you laugh a little harder, and leave you wondering where the last two hours went. That’s Root Beer GMO. This is one of those strains we’d happily keep around for game nights, hanging out with friends, creative conversations, and those evenings where the goal isn’t necessarily getting blasted.
