Capitol View for October 6th, Arkansas Representatives panel

On Capitol View this week, an Arkansas lawmaker faces potential expulsion from the House after pleading no contest to not paying state income taxes from 2012 to 2017. The House will vote Friday on the resolution to by House Speaker Matthew Shepherd to expel State Representative Mickey Gates. Plus, controversy over how much local control the State Board of Education proposes to return to the Little Rock School District. Theresa Gordon with the Little Rock Education Association shares her thoughts.

Capitol View: September 22nd, Gaming in Arkansas

On Capitol View this week, gambling operations are expanding across the state. The passage of Amendment 100 has allowed for licensing of two new casinos, pending the approval of Pope County residents, and with construction underway in Pine Bluff. Southland in West Memphis, and Oaklawn in Hot Springs have expanded their gaming, and a multi-million dollar construction plan at Oaklawn is well underway. State Senator Keith Ingraham of West Memphis, State Representative Les Ward of Hot Springs, and State Representative Vivian Flowers of Pine Bluff join Jay Bir to talk about the state of gaming in Arkansas.

On Capitol View this week, a panel joins Mallory Brooks to discuss vaping. State lawmakers addressed new concerns about the health effects of e-cigarettes at a joint committee meeting this week. Among the concerns, leaders are working to keep new tobacco products out of the hands of children. The panel consists of Dr. Sherman Whitfield with the Pulaski County Special School District, State Senator Missy Irvin, State Representative Tippi McCullough, and Dr. Joe Thompson , President of the Arkansas Center for Health Improvement.
