I love being a Capricorn, so much so it had to be included in the title of the name. Everyone knows capricorns are "mean, rude and blunt", which can be true but we hate when people are cappin in our face. In this podcast we talk about anything and everything. Internet niches, spirituality, pop culture, intersectionalities, trauma, being a novice Black ASL interpreter in a predominantly white field and so much more. I'm not afraid to say the quiet part out loud... literally

    ep. 3 - my ASL journey + language & information deprivation

    JAMBOOOOO everyoneeee. For captions, please refer to my youtube channel where it's the easiest to make it accessible. In this episode, I wanted to go over a bit of my ASL journey, how my college experience led me to transferring schools while also navigating being the only Black student in my program. I'll go more into depth later on about my experiences once I'm established because this community is tewwww small and my reputation precedes me with already being a content creator. I also talk about some Deaf history and why knowing all of this has pushed me to pursue interpreting on top of ADA coordinating and by the time I'm uploading this I did pass my test so I can now officially say I'm a certified ADA coordinator!!! Later on in the video I talk about how with the history of the Deaf community has led to language and information deprivation, another thing I'm passionate about especially with having to write a paper on it. This is why instead of doing ASL song interpreting, I've decided to do breakdowns of the song because with being deprived of those things, it can make it more difficult for Black Deaf people to understand the literary devices & word play being used because they miss out on so much incidental learning from being Deaf and majority of their family members not learning ASL. So breaking down the music and seeing what the true meaning is feels a lot better and more accessible then just signing.     ep. 2 - boundaries, coercion & men

    ***TRIGGER WARNING*** Hi bookies!!! This episode is finally accessible because I figured out how to add captions so now people can read along if they need to!! In this episode we get deep and raw, like trauma dumping type deep and there is a trigger warning because I'm so blunt about things I don't want to sugar coat. I'm still figuring out how to connect everything in terms of my youtube channel so pls give me time to figure it out! I'm not holding anything back and I've already seen the love that I received from the youtube video because I know so many people would be like "why are you airing your business out" and what I say is I'm doing it for the women who aren't able to fully process the tragedies they blame themselves for and maybe me being authentically myself and telling my story without shame will hopefully allow someone else to live in their truth and come to terms with the things that happened to them.     ep. 1 - you just have to start

    This is my first episode on cappin like a corn!!! I have to take my own advice and literally just start, no matter if I think I'm ready to start or not. I have so many plans for how I want this to go and really becoming an archival for who I am as a person. This is literally the raw and uncut first video because I want this to feel like you're on ft with your friend. My sister tells me I talk too much so what other way then to share my opinions on literally everything!!
