For some of these families, something devastating connects them. Death, a murder, an unsolved mystery, it's these cases that caught our attention and led to the series.     Case File: Arkita Stevenson

    19-year-old Arkita Stevenson was getting ready to give birth. At 36 weeks pregnant, she was shot and killed in Montgomery in 2011. Police are calling the murder a double homicide.

    Case File: Latricia McDade

    Latricia McDade was murdered while sitting in her car at a railroad crossing in Montgomery in 2018. Police say the mother of four was an innocent bystander, caught in the crossfire.

    Case File: Jeremy Allen

    The Allen family vividly remembers Father’s Day weekend 2017. They were preparing to celebrate when they got a phone call that would change their lives. Joseph Allen’s son, Jeremy Allen, 28, was shot and killed in his home on June 19, 2017. The scene at Eagle Landing Apartments on Eagle Circle was the start of a years-long nightmare for the family.

    Six years ago, Lelia Faulkner left her family’s home in Troy, never to be seen again. It was July 4, 2016, a day her mother, Susan Faulkner vividly remembers. At the time, Lelia and her daughter Madison were living with her parents. She’d just moved back in after a bad breakup.

    The 30-year-old was the city’s 30th homicide in 2020. He was gunned down in broad daylight in Regency Park on June 28, 2020.
