The Prescott Valley Police Department (PVPD) will host its Youth Police Academy from July 6–9, 2026, a program that provides local youth with a unique opportunity to learn about a career in law enforcement while building positive relationships between officers and the community. The Youth Police Academy would not be possible without the incredible support of our community partners, local businesses, and residents. Their continued encouragement and contributions help make this program a meaningful and impactful experience for the youth in our community. The PVPD is currently seeking $50 sponsorships from local businesses and private citizens to help support the academy. One hundred percent of all donations go directly toward the operation of the program, helping provide materials, activities, and refreshments for participants. Donations may be mailed or dropped off in the police station lobby. We also gratefully accept donations of pre-packaged snacks and bottled water. The idea behind the Youth Police Academy is simple: when a community comes together, great things can happen. Through this program, we aim to show young people the value of teamwork, trust, and collaboration while demonstrating how strong partnerships between law enforcement and the community can create positive change. On March 12, 2026, contractors on the Prescott National Forest will begin working the hand thin and pile phase of the Evacuation Route Hazardous Fuels Reduction Project on the Bradshaw Ranger District. They will be using chainsaws to cut and pile hazardous fuels within the approximately 410-acre area. This project is being implemented under the Bradshaw Landscape Environmental Assessment and is designed to thin brush and vegetation along roads that may be used as evacuation routes in the event of a wildfire. Forecasts show central Phoenix reaching 103°F on Wednesday, March 18th, and 106°F on Thursday, March 19th, surpassing the current March record of 100°F set in 1988. If those temperatures are reached, it would mark the hottest conditions ever recorded in the city in March.     Send us a text and chime in! The City of Yuma will reduce the speed limit on 32nd Street between Avenue 2 1/2 E and Arizona Avenue from 45 mph to 35 mph beginning Monday, March 16. City of Yuma Public Works crews will install new speed limit signs the morning of March 16. The change is intended to improve traffic flow, help reduce collisions, and support safer merging onto 32nd Street. This section of 32nd Street includes multiple driveways, side streets, and frequent turning traffic.
