Q&A with LL.M. students at UCLA

In this episode, we bring together candid reflections from 3 LLM students as they unpack the reality behind the diploma. From initial expectations to unexpected challenges, we explore why they chose to pursue an LLM at UCLA and what has surprised them most along the way. We dive into the academic pressure, the toughest classes, and moments of doubt...alongside the personal side of the experience: adjusting to life in Los Angeles, questioning decisions, and navigating change in both mindset and career direction. The conversation also turns to the future: job searching, recruiting struggles, shifting plans, and whether the LLM is truly the career accelerator it’s often made out to be. Finally, our guests share honest reflections, biggest misconceptions, and advice for anyone considering taking the same path. When Studios Exploit Their Own IP: Opportunity, Control & Creative Risk

When studios reboot a franchise, launch a spin-off, or revive a classic film, are they simply managing assets — or reshaping the future of creativity? In this episode of Cease & Create, we explore what it really means for studios to exploit their own intellectual property— legally, strategically, and creatively. This month, we are joined by Adrian Jungblut (Director of Business & Legal Affairs at Gaumont and UCLA Law alum) and Imen Lina Zegai (LL.M. candidate specializing in Media & Entertainment Law), we unpack: This episode looks beyond the buzzwords to examine the real tension at the heart of modern entertainment: How do studios balance commercial certainty with creative risk? Whether you’re a law student, creator, or industry professional, this conversation offers insight into how intellectual property shapes the stories we see on screen — and the business decisions behind them.

    Generative AI & Authorship

Artificial intelligence is no longer a distant possibility in the creative industries — it’s already here, writing scripts, generating images, and composing music. That raises a fundamental legal question: Who is the author when a machine creates? This is not just a legal discussion but also an ethical one. It’s about attribution and authorship of the people who are creating and it also about respecting the work of others. To help us unpack this, we’re joined by two fantastic guests: Professor Jake Simon and Juanita Cortes Moreno.
