Many of us in America have grown frustrated, apathetic, and disenchanted with the state of politics in this country. Most of the things we hear and see in regard to the state of politics in this country borderlines on insanity. Our goal here at Change Our Talk is to provide a perspective that attempts to restore some sanity and common sense to conversations. Our goal is to be informative, thought-provoking, and reasonably objective. If our politics are going to change, we need to change the way we talk.

    On today’s episode, Dylan asks the scariest question that we face in the US right now, can America be united? He will talk about current events, political conversations, trends, historical references, and overall what can be done to get on track.     The Gun Debate: Mass Shootings

He expresses how one should separate the statistics that are around gun control and not confuse them with mass shootings statistics due to the overwhelming amount of gun violence-related deaths there are in the United States. We also need to look at the factors that lead to mass shootings and how we can limit them. And we can’t have this discussion without analyzing the second amendment, breaking down its meaning, and understanding its limits.     Looking Backward to 2024

    In today’s episode, Dylan prepares us for the elections of 2024 and gives us his advice on how not to repeat the past but learn and grow from it. He will be addressing the following points as to why a redo of the 2020 elections is not beneficial to our country: The age of the two possible candidates is a factor and will not help the country that yearns for change, hope, and better ideas. The nature of each candidate's public support or lack thereof should allow us to find a better and more worthy candidate to lead the country and want to make a difference for all Americans and not just some. The rehashing of the 2020 elections, which for most Americans was not a modal of democracy, should not be duplicated as it will take us further back when we need to be moving forward.     The Abortion Conversation

    In today’s episode, Dylan will be having the abortion conversation. On June 24, 2022, the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, eliminating the constitutional right to an abortion after almost 50 years. This issue is complex and Dylan will be focusing on the following points in today’s episode: Break down the constitutional questions and the history of the Supreme Court’s past rulings and recent rulings. Examine the moral and philosophical questions from which many people derive their perspectives on this matter. Lay out the realities of abortion in America by looking at statistics, circumstances, and the impact that the recent decision has made on those circumstances. Dylan will focus on these three things in today’s show: Provide explanations for the divisions and the historical roots from which they stem. Have real-life examples of how the divide and the way we talk affect us today. And lastly, provide a way to move forward and what we can do to correct the situation.
