Motivation is not the answer, Confidence through Action IS!

Welcome to ChangeHER. In this episode, I speak with Robyn Godfrey about how our lives can change with just one small change.  Robyn is a TEDx speaker, author, RRCA Certified Running Coach, and keynote speaker who inspires people to stop waiting for motivation and start taking action. At age 47, Robyn took her first 30-second run on a treadmill, a decision that ultimately led to completing seven marathons, earning the coveted Six Star Medal after finishing six of the World Marathon Majors, writing her bestselling memoir Running the World, and delivering a TEDx talk challenging the belief that motivation is the key to lasting change. Drawing on her experiences in corporate leadership, caregiving, endurance sports, and personal reinvention, Robyn helps audiences discover that confidence isn't something you find, it's something you build through action. Her message is simple: you don't have to feel ready to begin; you just have to take the next step. Permission to Heal, with Rachel Abbett of Luminous and Grounded

If you've tried everything and still don't have answers, this one's for you. Rachel Abbett joins us to talk about what happens when conventional medicine hits a wall — and why the "medical anomalies" among us are often exactly who can crack the case. We dig into: Why persistence matters when you're the fourth call, not the first, and how to keep advocating for yourself when you've heard "it's all in your head" one too many times Why healing accelerates in community, not isolation (and a first look at Retreat 2026: Permission to Exhale) Why healing isn't about becoming someone new, it's about finding your way back to yourself, seen through the lens of energy and physics If you've been doing everything "right" and still aren't seeing results, Rachel's perspective might be the shift you didn't know you needed. Rachel Abbett is an Emotion Code® and Body Code® Practitioner and founder of Luminous & Grounded. Rachel helps clients clear emotional and energetic blocks that keep the body stuck in stress and dysfunction. Her work focuses on identifying the root causes behind physical symptoms, emotional overwhelm, and recurring patterns, through the use of applied kinesiology. Sessions are gentle, non-invasive, and designed to support the body’s natural ability to recalibrate and heal. Rachel brings a grounded, intuitive approach that clients find both efficient and deeply supportive. She works with individuals navigating chronic stress, persistent physical discomfort, and long-held emotional weight. Rachel offers sessions in person as well as through Zoom, phone and photo proxy. Let’s Talk About Sex! How intimacy and relationships change in midlife!

In this episode, our guest is Amy Clay, a licensed professional counselor with over 25 years in private practice and co-owner of Sunstone Counseling. We chat about how relationships and intimacy changes in midlife.  Amy helps clients work through anxiety, overwhelm, panic disorder, depression, bipolar disorder, grief, and the relationship dynamics that shape so much of our lives. Her approach is trauma-informed and gender-affirming, grounded in the Five Principles of Trauma-Informed Care: safety, choice, collaboration, trustworthiness, and empowerment — always with an eye toward each client's unique cultural and social context. She also specializes in couples work: premarital counseling, navigating parenthood, rebuilding trust after an affair, redefining monogamy, and working through intimacy and sexual issues. Trained as an IMAGO therapist, Amy draws from a range of relational approaches to meet each couple where they are. Beyond her own practice, she trains the next generation of counselors as a clinical supervisor for Residents in Counseling at Sunstone. How to Reclaim Your Life when Someone Love has a Personality Disorder

Welcome to ChangeHER. In this episode, I have the pleasure of speaking with Dr. Laura Dabney about what to do when you are in a relationship with someone who has a personality disorder.                                                                 Laura Dabney, M.D. is a psychiatrist, relationship expert, and founder of Relationship RX, a coaching and education platform focused on clarity in complex relationships. For over two decades, Dr. Dabney has worked with high-functioning adults struggling in painful relational patterns, often involving personality disorders, helping them understand what’s really happening beneath chronic conflict, emotional volatility, and repeated relational breakdowns. A long-time member of the American Psychiatric Association and the American Psychoanalytic Association, Dr. Dabney has been a quoted expert in national outlets including NBC News, USA Today, Everyday Health, Bustle, PopSugar UK, and The EveryMom, and a repeat guest on widely listened-to podcasts such as Optimal Daily Living and The Mental Illness Happy Hour. Known for her calm, non-sensational approach, she translates psychodynamic insight into practical frameworks that help people move from confusion and self-doubt to clarity, agency, and emotional stability. In her book, I Need You…Now Go Away! Reclaiming Your Life When You or Someone You Love Has a Personality Disorder , Dr. Dabney offers a clear, compassionate roadmap for understanding the confusing push-pull dynamics that leave so many high-functioning adults feeling trapped, depleted, and emotionally disoriented in their closest relationships. Rather than focusing on blame, labels, or surface-level advice, the book reveals how unconscious relationship patterns - and unspoken conflicts with emotions like anger, sadness, and neediness - drive chronic relational pain.                                                                  Connect with Dr. Laura Dabney:  Website: https://www.drldabney.com/  Instagram: @lauradabneymd Instagram: @relationshiprxcom Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/lauradabneymd/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgTW_U6Zl8X41n1mOXYM3UQ Connect with the ChangeHER Community at www.changehercommunity.com Thank you to our sponsors: Better Outside Together, www.betteroutsidetogether.com Alleva Acupuncture, www.allevaacu.com Dr. Jennifer Gorelick, www.jennifergorrelick.com Dr. Susan Trachman, author of It’s Not Just InYour Head susanbtrachmanmd.com Thank you to Varsity Sound Productions for making this podcast happen each week! Breaking Cycles and Building Wisdom in Midlife

Welcome to ChangeHER. I am excited you are here for this conversation.  Today's guest works at the intersection of healing and real life, where burnout, trauma, grief, and chronic stress live in the body, and where ritual, rhythm, and deep care can actually begin to shift things. Patience Ulstadt breaks down what Ayurveda actually has to do with perimenopause and why the answer might surprise you. She reframes the symptoms so many professional women are pushing through...the fatigue, the brain fog, the sleepless nights not as problems to fix, but as messages worth listening to. Patience challenges the "add more, do more" approach to wellness and invites women to ask a different question: are you living in alignment with your own nature? She also shares why true body literacy isn't a solo journey, and how community and consistency are what make healing sustainable. If you're ready to stop overriding your body and start understanding it, this one's for you. Patience Ulstadt came to this work the way many do.  Because she needed it. After serving in the 82nd Airborne Division, she returned home carrying injuries both visible and invisible, and when the systems meant to help her heal fell short, she went looking for another way. That search led her through massage therapy, Reiki, yoga, Ayurveda, and deeper trauma-informed practices and what began as a personal path to wholeness became her life's work. Today, Patience is a Board-Certified Massage Therapist with over 25 years of experience in integrative health. She blends Ayurvedic therapies, energy work, and nervous system repair to offer something her clients describe as sanctuary…a space to come back to yourself, to be witnessed, and to soften. She also created Breaking Cycles, Building Wisdom, a yearlong trauma-informed self-care journey for women ready to slow down, reclaim their rhythm, and rewrite the patterns keeping them stuck. Patience is a gardener, a traveler, a dog mom, and a mother to adult children living in Northern Virginia and she's here today to remind us: if you're tired of pushing through, there is another way. Welcome to the Changeher Podcast, Patience. When Relationships Change

Linda Rose Cooper is a midlife transition guide and life coach dedicated to helping women navigate life's challenges through to successful transformation. Through her Rise Wise Philosophy, she offers holistic support, guiding women to reclaim their power, rewrite their stories, and create a purposeful, empowered new beginning. That philosophy came vividly to life when Linda penned her powerful essay, "Midlife: a Woman's Soul Reckoning." The piece reframes midlife not as a mood swing, but as a profound spiritual awakening. One where a woman's lived experiences deepen into embodied wisdom. Drawing on the intersection of psychology, biology, and the soul, Linda dives into the intensity of midlife changes including perimenopause, shifting hormones, and long-suppressed emotions rising to the surface. Rather than treating this season as something to endure, she frames the rage and deep questioning of midlife as a powerful period of transformation and release. The essay gained significant traction, resonating with women who finally felt seen and validated in their experiences. Among its readers was Stephanie, who was so moved by Linda's words that she reached out, eager to sit down and explore its themes in deeper conversation. What followed was an exchange that brought to life the very essence of what Linda writes and teaches — that midlife is not a falling apart, but a breaking open. For Stephanie, the essay was not just enlightening; it was a reckoning that called her into conversation. It is precisely the kind of impact Linda Rose Cooper was inspired to create.  Meeting women where they are, holding space for their truth, and guiding them boldly into the most liberating chapter of their lives.
