    EPISODE 22

    S7E0 - Season 7 is Metroid Prime

Welcome to Season 7 of Chapter Select! Respond to the distress beacon with Scan Visor aficionado Max Roberts and Morph Ball enthusiast Logan Moore as they explore the Metroid Prime series. Along the way, they'll lose some power-ups, chart derelict civilizations, and mod the heck out of Samus as they—along with Nintendo—push the Metroid franchise into the unknown reaches of space and game design. It has been a very long time coming—both for Metroid Prime 4: Beyond and this season of Chapter Select. We have been hard at work on this season since its announcement two years ago and now, just like Retro Studios, are prepared to share its impending release plan with you all.  You can read a copy of this episode's transcript here. Our signature bounce back-and-forth structure has given us a delightful order this time around. Besides the hilarity of Federation Force (what I have been affectionately calling Feddie Force) being our second episode, I like the console and handheld flip-flopping. Here is the release schedule for Season 7: - Episode 1 – Metroid Prime Remastered (2025) is releasing on October 1, 2025. - Episode 2 – Metroid Prime: Federation Force (2016) is releasing on October 15, 2025. - Episode 3 – Metroid Prime 2: Echoes (2004) is releasing October 29, 2025. - Episode 4 – Metroid Prime Hunters (2006) is releasing November 12, 2025. - Episode 5 – Metroid Prime 3: Corruption (2007) is releasing on November 26, 2025. - Episode 6 – Metroid Prime 4: Beyond (2025) will release after we both beat the game. This season has been a journey to record with the ups and downs of life woven throughout its production. We recorded our first episode on October 14, 2023—just shy of two years to the day of its release. I've been editing the episodes over the last two months and it has been a strange treat to relive the games and show. I think that is a testament to both the show and this franchise of games we chose to play.  You may notice that there are no guests this season. The season's production cycle and our *long* play sessions didn't make it very conducive to have guests on the show. Even if we were dialed in, we had a difficult time getting guests for the Metroid Prime season. Our Castlevania season was/is a different story and I hope to reconfirm the guests we pitched ages ago. I do think a season of this size (just six episodes) makes our journey through the *Prime* series more intimate with just the two of us The art has been a two year struggle for me and I have landed on a similar idea to Season 5 – Resident Evil. Each episode will showcase a planet and a stylized logo to help indicate the episode's subject. It's taken me ages to land on this design.  I am...relieved this season is coming out. There were times over the last two years that I thought it'd be better to can the entire show. Along the way, we lost some power-ups, armor, and had to explore new territories. I am glad we persevered, explored, and finished what we set out to do. This season is great. Make sure to subscribe wherever you listen to podcasts. I hope you enjoy.
