Episode 203: Seahawks, Slip-Ups, and the Deity of Christ

In this episode with all five pastors we gather around the table for a wide-ranging, honest, and often hilarious conversation that moves from Super Bowl reactions and Winter Olympics highlights to the far more important question: Who is Jesus, really? Along the way, the guys chase a few classic rabbit trails—awkward mic moments, Seahawk debates, Olympic sports that defy logic, and church event cancellations—but eventually land on a thoughtful and timely discussion about cults, world religions, and the truth claims of biblical Christianity. A significant portion of the conversation centers on Jehovah’s Witness beliefs, the reliability of Bible translations, and why the deity of Christ is not a side issue, but the foundation of the Christian faith. The pastors reflect on Sunday’s sermon, explore how subtle changes in Scripture can lead to massive theological shifts, and offer practical guidance on how to engage Jehovah’s Witnesses (and others) with grace, truth, and thoughtful questions rather than arguments. The episode closes with a pastoral reflection on why the resurrection matters, what it means if Jesus truly is God, and how that reality transforms faith from religion into relationship—and authority into hope. As always, expect laughter, honesty, and gospel-centered conversation as we chase the rabbit together. New episodes drop every Tuesday. Recorded at First Baptist Church of the Islands, Savannah, GA

Episode 202: Snow Days & Empty Tanks

What do snowstorms, canceled services, and accidental “rapture livestreams” have to do with spiritual rest? Quite a bit, actually. In this episode of Chasing the Rabbit, the pastors of First Baptist Church of the Islands reflect on an unexpected snowy weekend in Savannah and let the conversation drift (as it always does) into something deeper: the urgent need for rest, rhythms, and refueling—especially for those in ministry. As the team looks ahead to a local ministry conference, they talk candidly about burnout, busyness, Sabbath principles, and the difference between physical rest and soul rest. Along the way, they wrestle with questions many leaders feel but don’t always voice: How do you know when your tank is running empty? Why does busyness feel like success in our culture? What does biblical rest actually look like under the New Covenant? And how do we create healthy rhythms that sustain us for the long haul? The conversation is grounded in Scripture and shaped by insights from several influential books, including: Leading On Empty by Wayne Cordeiro The Wisdom Pyramid by Brett McCracken The Common Rule by Justin Whitmel Earley Whether you’re a pastor, ministry leader, volunteer, or just someone feeling stretched thin, this episode is an encouraging reminder that rest is not weakness—it’s wisdom. God doesn’t just command rest; He invites us into it. So slow down, take a breath, and chase this rabbit with us.

200 Rabbits Trails Later: Truth, Waffles, and Why Boundaries Matter

We made it—200 episodes of Chasing the Rabbit—and we’re celebrating the only way we know how: laughter, stories, sweets, and a deep dive into biblical truth. In this milestone episode, four of the guys reflect on how the podcast began, why it’s lasted nearly four years, and what makes these conversations meaningful for both the table and the church family listening in. From unexpected listener feedback to favorite moments along the way, this episode is equal parts gratitude and joy. Then, after the banter (and a surprise stroopwaffle taste test), we turn our attention to something that matters deeply—truth. We jump in to a discussion of our new sermon series, Out of Bounds: Cults, World Religions, and the Truth of God. We talk about why boundaries matter, how Scripture defines truth, and why stepping outside those boundaries doesn’t lead to freedom—it halts spiritual progress. In a culture that says “your truth” is enough, we return to what Jesus actually said: truth is not relative, and it is not optional. Whether you’ve been listening since episode one or you’re jumping in for the first time, this episode captures the heart of Chasing the Rabbit—honest conversation, pastoral insight, and a shared desire to know and live God’s truth. Thanks for listening and thanks for laughing with (or at) us. And here’s to chasing truth—no matter how many rabbit trails it takes.
