Chats with Clark

"I'm a mindset guy," I often tell people when describing the content of the podcast. During a Chats with Clark episode, we will engage a conversation about mindsets and ideas that actually matter in the world. The rationale behind our actions, the "why" in what we do, brings us together. It's those mindsets that affect our view of the world.  At the end of each episode, I hope that all of us are better than we were before thinking about the topics of that day. Thank you for tuning in!

Nick Stanoszek: Co-founder of VIO Med Spa & of Balance Pilates; Building Great Businesses & Remaining Humble

Episode 74 of the Chats with Clark Podcast welcomes Nick Stanoszek, the co-founder of VIO Med Spa and of Balance Modern Pilates. Stanoszek joins the show to dive into his mindsets behind being an entrepreneur, even though he would adamantly disagree with that term. To Nick, an entrepreneur is someone who pushes all of their chips in and risks it all; as someone wired the opposite, Nick refutes that he is entrepreneurial. Nick's consistency and persistency are his two attributes that have driven his success. When he took the risk to leave his job as a consultant for EY to dive fully into VIO Med Spa and eventually Balance Modern Pilates, Nick shares that he knew he would be successful because he rolls up his sleeves and will work until he figures something out. Throughout the process, many people doubted Stanoszek (which is probable when one aspires to do anything), and that motivated Stanoszek all the more to develop what he needed. In essence, Nick embodies the "watch me" mindset, proving to others that his grit and determination would outweigh the obstacles thrown his way. To that end, Nick encourages all of us to overcome obstacles and to work through the puzzle, placing aside any excuses that cloud our minds and productivity. And, importantly, when the success comes from the result of the hard work, remain humble and be good to others. Nick prides himself on those values and shares heartfelt stories as to why. Tune in to episode 74 to hear the mindsets, thought processes, and habits that allowed Nick and his brother Joe to develop the largest franchised med spa in the country and why the latest endeavor of Balance Pilates has been off to a roaring start. Find out why Nick implores everyone to value their family and friends over business, and why business is best done "on a handshake"! Ashley Carpenter: Is Love Really Blind; Ask the Important Questions; Have Steadfast Non-Negotiables

Recently starring in Netflix's Season 10 of Love Is Blind, Ashley Carpenter leaves the altar to join us on episode 73 of the Chats with Clark Podcast. Of course, the obvious question was contemplated. Is love really blind? Experiencing a dating "experiment" (as called on the show) that is rapid and intentionally expedited, Ashley worked to balance her reserved nature while also desiring in-depth connection. As someone who values asking the tough questions, Ashley thanks her father and family dynamic for raising her in ways that real truth is valued. Finding the balance between setting boundaries between being outgoing and bold and also that reserved nature has been a recent toil for Ashley. Nodding to the show for aiding in this realization, Ashley walked away from "Love Is Blind" with newfound appreciation for really establishing non-negotiables and never deviating from them. To that end, Ashley yearns now for "the cozy fireplace" versus the fireworks and butterflies. Having gone through Season 10, her advice to all of us is to be authentically ourselves (allowing for true depth of connection), to ask the tough questions right away in each situation (saving us time), and to remain steadfast with our non-negotiable aspects or values in someone else and ourselves. Tune in to episode 73 to hear the ways in which love really is blind and perhaps how it is not, the mindsets that Ashley takes into her updated life after the show, and why all of us will be having the difficult conversations we've been putting off after this episode. Etiquette Is Rooted in Effectiveness; The Truth about Talking to Our Dogs; Lessons from the Beach

When we talk to our dogs, we use a specific playful, simplified tone that reflects the relationship that we have with our dogs. The etiquette of talking to our dogs unveils deeper truths about the ways in which etiquette is intertwined in all facets of life. Have you ever seen someone wearing a hoodie at the beach, or how about those who choose to miserably wear closed tennis shoes? These images stand out as ineffective practices that also break etiquette (in this case, of going to the beach). Surely, we all have the creative freedom to do that which we please; however, the etiquettes are rooted in effectiveness. Talking plainly to our dogs or wearing hoodies to the beach are less effective than the playful linguistics or some flip flop of sort, and so on. Tune in to episode 71 of Chats with Clark for a dive into the etiquettes in our lives, how they coincide with first impressions, and ways in which we can add our personal flair into each situation, while adhering to etiquettes, to perform at our best.
