Homophobia

Ordained minister, Dr. Dennis Hall, discusses homophobia among evangelical Christians. He points out that any discrimination against someone based on their sexual orientation in the workplace or in housing is a violation of federal law. The number of anti-LBGTQ incidents across the country continues to rise. Using Scripture Dr. Hall points out why evangelical Christians believe that the LBGTQ lifestyle is sinful but clearly asserts that Christians are taught to love everyone, even their enemies. Dr. Hall then talks about the types of homophobias and the different manifestations. He challenges listeners to examine their selves to determine if they are homophobes. Dr. Hall stresses that the world is made up of males and females – not gays and straights. The importance Christians having friends in the gay community and how to go about that endeavor is discussed. Tradwives

Ordained minister, Dr. Dennis Hall, speaks to the trends in marriage rates and divorce rates. He then shifts his attention to the massive tradwife movement that has spread across social media. He explains that the term “tradwife” means traditional wife and how the tradwife influencers have gained millions of followers. He points to a recent study that reveals that nearly half of generation Z women would choose a tradwife lifestyle over luxury, money, and fame. Dr. Hall addresses some of the problems that 50 years of feminism and women’s equality movements have created. Dr. Hall then turns his attention to God’s plan for men, women, and marriages. He uses Scripture to point out that God is directing men and women to submit to one another in marriage. Whether a woman works in a stay-at-home traditional lifestyle or works outside the home, both are needed and can be glorified by God. What is a True Friend

Ordained minister, Dr. Dennis Hall, explores how our understanding of friendship has changed over time and the impact that social media is having on this connectivity between people. He points out that friendship has never been more necessary in today’s fast-paced high stress culture. Dr. Hall points out that the first problem in the world is not sin but solitude. He uses the story of Jonathan and David to outline the characteristics of true friendship. Dr. Hall illustrates the characteristics of true friends by using scriptural teachings. War and the Resurrection

Ordained minister, Dr. Dennis Hall, provides commentary on two conflicting points of view. The Pope summed up his Palm Sunday homily by challenging leaders to, “Lay down your weapons!” Then later in the week the President of the United States laid out the reasons that Iran had to be preemptively attacked asserting that United States had to take up arms to prevent a nuclear disaster. Since it is the Easter season and Christian churches are celebrating the resurrection this podcast addresses skeptics theories used to question the resurrection. Dr. Hall concludes the podcast by suggesting how believers should react to skeptics and critics of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Dogwoods, Crucifixion, Propitiation

Ordained minister, Dr. Dennis Hall, opens this podcast by discussing the gruesome details of the torture and crucifixion of Jesus. The agonizingly slow death of Jesus by asphyxiation is explained. Dr. Hall then discusses the legend of the Dogwood tree and its unique botanical features that allowed this tree to become intertwined with the story of the crucifixion. An explanation of what sin is, is provided and why Jesus’atonement for our sins was necessary. The biblical concept of propitiation is explored as a sacrifice to prevent the wrath of God. Dr. Hall concludes the podcast by pointing out that because God sent his son Jesus to die on the cross as propitiation for our sins, our sins can be removed, our debt completely paid, and our relationship with God restored. Homosexuality and Easter

Ordained minister, Dr. Dennis Hall, and his special guest Dorothy Little discuss how support for same-sex marriages has soared since the Supreme Court legalized same-sex marriages in 2015. They especially focused on a survey that reported 48% of Generation Z identify as gay, lesbian, or bisexual. These Bible scholars pointed out that homosexuality has been prominent in societies for centuries and pointed out that many historians feel that homosexuality and immorality contributed to the destruction of ancient societies. These Bible scholars then went to Romans chapter 1 to gain insight about what the widespread acceptance of what homosexuality means for the future of American society. Both Bible scholars had much to say about what Christians should be doing in response to the prevalence of immorality in America. They also had much to say about how Christians should be interacting and reaching out to the LGBTQ community. The podcast concludes by pointing out that God through the apostle Paul is asserting that widespread acceptance of homosexuality is a warning sign that society is in serious moral decline. The celebration of Easter reminds us that God is prepared to forgive us and give us the tools to fight against evil in our society. The Thrill of Victory and the Agony of Defeat

Ordained minister, Dr. Dennis Hall, looks at the celebration of Palm Sunday and sports spectatorship as two things that poignantly reveal the famous slogan, “The thrill of victory and the agony of defeat.” He delves into the psychology of sports fans and the things that draw fans to sporting events, pointing out that it is the uncertainty and thrill of the unknown that plays a big part. After analyzing the psychology and biology that creates the feelings of the thrill of victory and agony of defeat, he turns his attention to the crowds watching Jesus ‘triumphal return to Jerusalem. He points out how the crowds were sensing the thrill of victory as Jesus arrived and how his opponents were preparing for his defeat. Before the week ends his followers would experience the agony of defeat in many ways. Dr. Hall concludes pointing out that the apostles’ joy came when they met the resurrected Savior that that will be true for all of us. Apostles Today?

Ordained minister, Dr. Dennis Hall, reviews how Jesus appointed the original twelve apostles and then explores the differences between disciples and apostles. He points out how the word “apostle” was used in the early Jewish, Greek, and Roman culture. The characteristics of apostles as outlined in the Scripture are reviewed. Dr. Hall then turns his attention to the question of whether there are contemporary apostles. The view that once the canonization of Scripture was complete that the gifts provided to the apostles ceased, called cessationism, is reviewed and compared to the view that these gifts did not cease, called continuationism, Dr. Hall outlines the implications of this debate for today’s churches. Dr. Hall concludes this podcast finding it difficult to view anything in the Scripture to support a dogmatic conclusion that there are no modern-day Apostle’s.
