“My name is Rain Noel Perry, and this is my magnum opus.” So begins Cinderblock Bookshelves: A Guide for Children of Fame-Obsessed Bohemian Nomads, Perry‘s funny, harrowing and tender musical memoir of life with her father after the early death of her mom. “Billy Jack will make a brief appearance, as will Nancy Sinatra and Werner Erhard. There will be sex, drugs, and, yes, rock & roll,” continues Perry, in a loving yet clear-eyed tale of a childhood that spanned nearly 25 houses and a dozen schools, with an actor/writer dad who moonlighted as an oyster fisherman, a chef, an ecstasy dealer, and a traffic school instructor.

Hilarious, Heartbreaking, Everything In Between

Rain Perry is a monster songwriter and a monster storyteller. This multimedia solo show is as hysterically funny as it is devastating and poignant.
I thoroughly recommend Cinderblock Bookshelves to anyone who’s a fan of excellent storytelling in any of its many forms.

Touching and intimate

A very open, personal autobiography with perfectly placed humor and splendid musical interludes. Rain bares her soul boldly and reveals her trials, triumphs and disappointments in such a way that the listener can’t help but care about, learn of and appreciate her story as one shining example of a human striving, hurting and loving her way through life. Well worth a careful listen, and records also highly recommended!

Brilliant and Insightful

An amazing story that will keep you enthralled with each episode. The musical interludes written and performed by Rain Perry, as she tells her stories, are amazing. I am buying the album and everything she has recorded that is available. Wow. What a talent. Do not miss this.
