Class In Session: Economic Inequality in Higher Education is a podcast project for POL213 at Wake Forest University. Through three episodes, we will explore the foundation of and experiences defining economic inequality in college and university. The final episode will present policy outcomes to ensure that accessing and succeeding in higher education is more equal.

    Episode 3: Piecing together policy options

    In the final episode of Class in Session, Olivia Field and Ben Murphy interview Dr. Amanda Griffith, Associate Professor of Economics at Wake Forest University whose research interests include the economics of education. This episode discusses the causal link between higher education and class status, and policy recommendations that can be used to address the phenomenon of economic inequality. To wrap up the series, Ben reviews current policy proposals and its potential, especially throughout the political shifts in the federal government.

Across the second half of the episode, Olivia and Graciela conclude by giving thought to the social and financial makeup of Wake Forest and higher education at large.

    In the first episode of Class in Session, Lauren Goldston and Joshua Yama interview Jessica Bonnem, a high school teacher who is well versed in how economic status affects educational attainment. Throughout the episode, they discuss barriers to success in high school and how these challenges can prevent students from accessing a post-secondary degree.
