    Freedom (Where Have You Gone) by Blue Jays

    Label: Map City 307 dj Year: 1971 Condition: M Price: $30.00 Stereo/Mono promo copy. This is one of a handful of singles by a mid-Atlantic soul group produced by Vince Poncia on the obscure Map City label he founded in 1969 with songwriting partner Pete Anders. (Anders-Poncia were also known as the Tradewinds and wrote a number of great, classic songs for Kama Sutra and its associated labels until leaving to form Map City.) "Freedom" has a wonderful, complex arrangement with a great beat and superb lead vocal. The horn parts sound just like vintage Chicago, and then they throw in an electric guitar to the mix! This beautiful copy has pristine Mint audio.

    You Haven't The Right by Catalinas

    Label: S.E.I. 16535 Year: 1964 Condition: M Price: $15.00 From a warehouse find, this is a new, unplayed stock copy. This is the first release of these very appealing Northern Soul tunes, on a tiny Charlotte, NC, label... They were picked up by Scepter in 1967 and re-released. Note: This beautiful copy has no notable flaws, grading Mint across the board (Labels, Vinyl, Audio).

    Over My Head by Fleetwood Mac

    Label: Reprise 1339 Year: 1975 Condition: M Last Price: $15.00. Not currently available for sale. The single has a slightly different -- and shorter -- mix than the 3:38 album cut. This was the tune that got the Fleetwood Mac hit machine rolling in the mid- to late-1970's. It's also perhaps my personal favorite cut from their first album in their revitalized configuration (with Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham added to the mix). Interesting to note that that album, simply called Fleetwood Mac, generated three Top 20 singles, but none that made the Top 10 in Billboard's Hot 100 chart: Over My Head (#20, released November 2005) Rhiannon (#11, released March 2006) Say You Love Me (#11, released July 2006) Note: This beautiful copy has Mint labels and pristine sound.     Do It Again by Steely Dan

    Label: ABC 11338 Year: 1972 Condition: M Last Price: $15.00. Not currently available for sale. This essential single has a delightful 3:57 edited version of the much longer LP cut. Note: This copy comes in a vintage ABC Records factory sleeve. The Labels and Audio are pristine Mint, with the Vinyl grading just shy of that at Near Mint.

    Rip It Up by Little Richard

    Label: Specialty 579 Year: 1956 Condition: M- Last Price: $35.00. Not currently available for sale. Here's a beautiful copy of one of Little Richard's very best recordings... great flip, too! Credited to "Little Richard And His Band." Have a listen to the mp3 "snippet"! Note: This 45 has Near Mint labels with a touch of ringwear. The vinyl has some light scuffs, grading a strong EX in appearance. The audio has very light, native vinyl surface noise that's audible beneath the strong, undistorted sound if you listen for it; overall, I'm grading the audio Near Mint because it's that good and could be played on a radio station or in a nightclub.     Tennessee Waltz by Bobby Comstock and The Counts

    Label: Blaze 349 Year: 1959 Condition: M- Price: $18.00 This is the greatest rock'n'roll version of one of my very favorite Country tunes. It's been covered many times in many styles, but with its terrific rockabilly guitar break, this one's something special. The flip is also in my iTunes library, a tuneful ballad in a Ricky Nelson/Buddy Holly sorta style. FYI, this was a non-album single. Note: This beautiful copy grades Near Mint across the board (Labels, Vinyl, Audio), with only very minor flaws. The vinyl has very light surface noise.

    Queen Of All My Days by American Flyer

    Label: U.A. 874 Year: 1976 Condition: M Price: $9.00 From a warehouse find, this is a new, unplayed stock copy, in its original factory sleeve. Now, here's an interesting single: The A side is a pleasing, mid tempo Country/Folk Rocker, the group's only chart tune; the flip is more adventurous, with an infectious rhythm that proves as catchy as the hit side. Behind the great grooves is a short-lived "supergroup" with an impressive pedigree: Craig Fuller (Pure Prairie League), Eric Kaz (Blues Magoos), Steve Katz (Blood, Sweat & Tears) and Doug Yule (Velvet Underground). Oh, also, at the production wheel is famed Beatles producer George Martin. Both tracks are from the "American Flyer" LP, though the A side label notes that this recording is a "Re-mix by Nick Jameson," so it may be a bit different than the album cut. The B side is edited from a 3:10 album track. Note: This copy has pristine Mint labels and audio, and the vinyl (styrene) is graded Near Mint to reflect a couple of light storage-wear scuffs.

    Undun by Guess Who

    Label: RCA 0195 Year: 1969 Condition: M- Last Price: $20.00. Not currently available for sale. Another great two-sided classic from this underrated group, showing what a truly serendipitous partnership Burton Cummings and Randy Bachman had formed. When he avoided going over the top on vocals (as he occasionally did), Cummings was a classic Rock vocalist with a gift for melodic pop hooks behind most of their big hits. Somewhat in the background, guitarist Randy Bachman could also write lyrics and tunes with the best of them, and he understood the importance of rhythm, rock's rougher edges, and how to seamlessly meld them with Cumming's pop instincts. Of course, he later proved he could form a different kind of rock band -- one with that harder edge but with the catchy, Top-40 side of great Power Pop -- when he teamed up with vocalist Fred Turner in Bachman-Turner Overdrive.Here, the A side was the Top 10 hit, and the B side is nearly as famous. "Undun" features both lyrics and music by Bachman, and shows him waxing philosophic in his tale of a "fallen" woman. The arrangement is reminiscent of what Todd Argent had been doing with the Zombies, and in particular echoes their Spring 1969 hit, "Time of the Season." By the way, both tracks are specially edited versions of their respective album cuts (3:05 and 4:17).Note: This beautiful copy comes in a vintage RCA Victor Records factory sleeve. It has Mint labels and very nearly Mint vinyl and audio. The Audio does have a touch of surface noise during the quiet intro. (This scan is a representative image from our archives.)
