Not just "Classical"

This is a fabulous podcast. Dacia Clay asks remarkably insighful and interesting questions that really help me clarify my understanding of how music is "put together"—how it's structured—and how that affects what I am hearing, how I am hearing it, and why I'm reacting to it as I am. The insights I've gained from this show have increased my appreciation of =all= music—not just "classical" or "serious" music.
Over the years I've been fortunate to be able to listen to a lot of different kinds of music from many diffetent cultures and countries, so I already "know" much about music. However, none of my music "education" has been formal; therefore, many of the discussions on this show have caused "the coin to drop." That is, they've given me conscious understatings of music and structure I had previously only understood on a "gut" or unconscious level. The show has provided many tools for me to better think about and enjoy =everything= I'm hearing.
Profuse thanks to Ms. Clay, the engineer and producer, Houston Public Radio (for whom my cup was already overflowing for introducing me to John Lienhard years ago), and all of the delightful, well-spoken musicians and composers who have given their time so generously to this show.

Fun and educational!

One of the best podcasts I have found. The host keeps things moving, and the show is entertaining and even funny. But it also presents great music and interesting topics.
