    Motivated by her dedication to improving the well-being of the geriatric population, Heather’s passion for the long-term care industry has driven her professional successes.  Heather is the founder and CEO of PreventionID but began her nursing career as an LPN charge nurse at a long-term care facility in central Arkansas. Eventually promoted to Director of Nursing, she also oversaw the infection prevention and control program, reducing the use of unnecessarily prescribed antibiotics and lowering the facility’s infection rate by an astounding 75%. 

    In addition to maintaining a 4–5-star rating, under her direction the facility won many awards, including “Most Improved Quality Measure” and “Facility Of The Year.”  After 7 successful years as DON, Heather took a position as the Chief Infection Prevention Officer of a national infection prevention company where she successfully assisted long-term care facilities across the nation with the implementation of effective infection prevention and control programs.

    A member of NADONA, the Arkansas Nursing Home Nurses Association, and nominee for Arkansas DON of the year in 2019, Heather is a Board-Certified Infection Preventionist as well as a Dementia Well-being Specialist and CPR and First-Aid instructor.

    Bernadette “Priya” Pandya-Orozco, MSN, RN, PHN, CIC is the Manager for Infection Prevention at O'Connor Hospital which is part of the County of Santa Clara Hospital and Health System. She has served in several critical leadership roles in the field of infection prevention and communicable disease over the last twenty-five years. Most recently, in 2019, she became the Manager of O' Connor Hospital Infection Prevention, where she serves as a subject matter expert to hospital staff and leaders for infection prevention and control.


    Priya has worked for high reliable organizations to reduce hospital acquired infection rates. She encourages the use of creative performance improvement projects which utilize evidence-based practices to engage frontline champions and leaders. Priya attributes her successes to her ability to understand and value every member of a healthcare system, recognizing how each person in a hospital can affect infection prevention efforts and contribute to performance improvement.

    Originally from Munster, Indiana, Julie Sufana moved to Los Angeles to study Business Administration and Spanish at the University of Southern California (USC). After earning her degree, Julie looked for ways to utilize both the creative and analytical sides of her brain by working in education, sales and marketing while pursuing her love of acting.

    In 2016, Julie moved to Vienna, Austria. She subsequently earned her Masters in Marketing from WU and landed her dream job as Chief Marketing Officer at contextflow GmbH. She's particularly well-known for her writing and presentation skills, well-honed by her years in the entertainment industry. Julie is also a certified 200-hr yoga instructor and loves teaching her colleagues after hours. 

    A little about contextflow: the Vienna-based startup develops clinical decision support tools with the help of deep learning: SEARCH Lung CT detects 19 patterns plus nodules in lung CTs, including those related to COVID-19. It integrates directly into your PACS and preliminary test results show it reduced average reading time by 31% when available for use as well as a trend towards improved diagnostic accuracy.

    Marc wanted to be an epidemiologist as a teenager and was first introduced to infection prevention when he performed DNA fingerprinting of multi-drug resistant organisms for research activities, surveillance and outbreak investigations while in graduate school. 

    He became an infection preventionist, a research epidemiologist and ultimately a corporate director of infection prevention and quality for a multi- hospital system. Marc served APIC at the local and national level, has published over 50 articles and served on the editorial board of the American Journal of Infection Control for a decade. 

    Marc now serves as PDI’s Clinical Science Liaison (CSL), for the Central Region-14 states across the Midwest.

    Chaz Rhone earned a Master of Public Health in Epidemiology from the University of Florida (UF) and began his career as an Infection Preventionist in 2007. He is currently the Assistant Vice President of Infection Prevention for HCA Healthcare North Florida Division.

    Chaz has been certified in infection prevention and control since 2012, recognized as an APIC Hero (2016), accepted as an APIC Fellow (2019), and recognized as an APIC Champion (2022). He was also named as one of UF’s College of Public Health and Health Professions Outstanding Alumni (2018).

    His professional passions include advancing the field of IP through leadership development of IPs and advocating for M.P.H.-ers as qualified candidates for IP positions. To that end, he is currently co-chair of the APIC Academic Pathway Steering Committee, and a member of the APIC Professional Development Committee.
