The Y2K bug—also known as the Millennium Bug—was a programming issue that could’ve caused major disruptions in technology and society. We explore how it all started, why it was such a big deal, and what the world did to fix it before time ran out. 🌍 The Global Response Governments, corporations, and even regular folks jumped into action to avoid disaster. Billions of dollars were spent preparing for the rollover to the year 2000, but did all that preparation save the day? Or were we simply overreacting? ⏳ The Countdown & The Fix As the clock ticked down to midnight on December 31, 1999, people were glued to their TVs, wondering if planes would stay in the air and whether the power grids would stay on. This week, we are covering the timeline of events that led to the possible and tragic discovery of 19 year old Jay Slater from Lancashire, during his first holiday with friends in Tenerife. Our thoughts go out to everybody affected by Jay’s story and we hope that there is some level of closure and comfort for Jay’s family knowing that they have found their boy, if the identification proves the remains to be that of Jay Slater.
