Welcome to the Club Cool Podcast. The clubhouse is located at the intersection of style and pop culture.
TikTok, Turtlenecks, & Tiramisu with Kayla Haby of The Mail-In Pod & The Bitchin Chef
Washed Media's newest podcast host, Kayla Haby, joins the Club for her first guest appearance. Kayla is also a food blogger and knows her away around a kit pic for the 'gram, so conversation starts in the culinary world and before drifting over in to the style realm. After Barrett and Phil chat with Kayla about all things cooking and baking, the trio covers the TikTok culture war happening between Gen Z and Millennials over the latter's refusal to give up on skinny jeans. They also touch on some other current women's trends, both good and bad, before dissecting Matt James' style choices (specifically his undying commitment to turtlenecks).

Inauguration Day Style Moments, The Downside of Brand Growth, Plus "Seinfeld" & "Friends" Fashion Becoming Current
CLEAR YOUR MIND, FEEL LESS STRESSED:
Barrett and Phil jump on the mics for another rousing edition. First up, the boys talk about the many incredible style moments at today's historic inauguration, including but not limited to Bernie wearing his meme jacket and the Vice President's nephew showing up in Dior 1s. Then, for the big topic of the day, the guys talk about how the necessity for business growth typically ends up hurting the product from your favorite designers and brands. Whether it's contemporary favorites like John Elliott and Aimé Leon Dore pushing out more product at better margins or bigger companies like Everlane and Bonobos feeling the pressure to answer to their investors and corporate overlords. Barrett then highlights some of his favorite under-the-radar brands (BTFL Studio, Séfr, & Sunflower) and points out how shopping these lines in the earlier stages of this lifecycle can be more favorable to the consumer. Finally, the boys talk about the rise of "Seinfeld" and "Friends" as sources of style inspiration for a generation that's acquainting themselves with the shows for the first time just as 90s influence on fashion continues to reign supreme.

Barrett and Phil meet in the studio today for the first time in 2021! It feels good to be back. The boys breakdown some recent Big Fits and talk about the rise in popularity of liner jackets. One kit examined, seen on Sebastian Bear-McCloud (aka Mr. Emily Ratajkowski), sparks a comparison to the King of Schlub, Adam Sandler, and yet somehow it works for him. Or maybe it doesn't, nobody's quite sure. There's also some more bean-top talk before the dudes take some hotline calls. Subjects discussed include: skiing trends, bracelets with watches, Adidas clogs, and shopping at Goodwill.

Barrett and Phil are back for the first the Club's first episode of 2021. Unfortunately, they have to record remotely, as Barrett had a brush with COVID earlier this week. First up is a fresh Pop Culture Minute featuring Alexander Wang being a monster, the dissolution of KimYe, and the hottest new couple around: Harry Styles and Olivia Wilde. Also on today's pod: Heaven's Gate had a pretty dope logo and chose to exit wearing matching black and white Nike Decades. Now, those Nikes fetch thousands of dollars on the resell market and the graphic design still permeates other avenues of music and fashion. It's a lasting legacy for the cult, but is it in poor taste? And finally, to wrap things up, the dudes offer some of their style resolutions for the coming year.
