This podcast series is an ongoing conversation with Mary, who calls herself a recovering hoarder. She is willing to share her up-til-now very private life in an effort to be helpful to others, may they be packrats, someone who loves a hoarder or those who just want to understand something that's mystifying to them. We go step by step through the muck, the stuck places, the victories. We don't know when and if she will recover from her "unusual relationship with stuff." Come along with me and cheer Mary on as she does the very hard work of healing. Will she ever let me into her home? Stay tuned.

So GRATEFUL for Mary’s insights

Mary: I cannot thank you enough for your detailed, play-by-play narration on the thoughts that go through your mind as you deal with your belongings.

Yours is an extraordinary gift of articulation.

So many people are struggling with their stuff—and their families are struggling as well.

Mary, Lori, I admire you both for your honesty as well as your senses of humor - thank you both for telling the truth about what this journey feels like for each of you. I’m only on episode 12 but already I am SO rooting for Mary’s continued growth (there will always be setbacks, so remember life is often 2 steps forward, one step back).

You’re already helping more people than you’ll ever know. Thanks.

A compassionate in depth study of hoarding

This is an absolutely brilliant approach to analyzing hoarding. Lori gently directs the conversations, and Mary responds honestly with tremendous personal insight. Over the span of the series, we hear about challenges faced by our hoarder, root causes, strategies and solutions. Mary is so honest and charming you can’t help but cheer her on as the episodes progress. Helpful for anyone who loves a pack rat, and for those of us who also have a strange relationship with stuff.

Honest and brave journey

I have been so moved by Mary's bravery and honesty. I am on my own journey with too much stuff. Though anyone walking into my home would not see it. When I listened to the need for boxes I instantly saw myself. I think many of us can relate to Mary. I admire Mary's ability to be so honest. You are so brave and likable. I am cheering for you!
