🎙️ Deep Dive Drive – Episode 88: Stop Chasing the Best. Start Chasing Your Best.

In this episode of Deep Dive Drive, I talk about a mindset that we’re trying to embed across everything we do: Stop chasing the best. Start chasing YOUR best. It’s easy to look around at other coaches, clubs, businesses, or organisations and constantly compare yourself. Who’s bigger?  Who’s better?  Who’s doing more? But what if we stopped worrying about everyone else and concentrated on becoming the best version of ourselves? In this episode, I talk about how improvement doesn’t always require huge changes. Sometimes it starts with getting the absolute basics right. Saying hello to every player who walks into your session.  Having a genuine conversation.  Remembering someone’s name.  Creating a positive environment.  Delivering the service you promised.  And then looking for those small opportunities to go above and beyond. I explore: Why comparison can distract you from your own progressThe importance of competing against your own standardsWhy doing the basics consistently can have a massive impactHow small interactions can completely change someone’s experienceThe difference between doing the bare minimum and taking pride in the minimumWhy going above and beyond starts with getting the foundations rightHow individuals and teams can continually ask: “Can we be better than we were yesterday?”We don’t necessarily need to be the best coaching company, the best football programme, the best team, or the best coach. We just need to keep trying to be the best that we can be. Because when everyone within an organisation starts chasing their own best, collectively, the standards of the whole environment begin to rise. Don’t chase everyone else. Chase yourself. Be better than yesterday. One drive at a time. 🚗🧠⚽

🎙️ Deep Dive Drive – Episode 87: Are You Changing Your Brand… or Evolving What You Stand For?

In this episode of Deep Dive Drive, I talk about something we’re currently experiencing first-hand at Complete — a rebrand. When you’ve built a business over a number of years, your logo and identity carry memories, experiences, relationships, successes, challenges, and plenty of emotion. So deciding to change that isn’t always easy. But are you really changing who you are… or are you simply evolving what you stand for? In this episode, I reflect on our decision to move Complete in a new direction — simplifying our look, rebuilding our website, and creating a brand identity that better represents who we are today and where we want to go next. I talk about: Why businesses and organisations sometimes need to evolveThe emotional attachment we build with an old brandThe positives and potential negatives of rebrandingWhy a brand should represent more than just a logoBuilding an identity around our eight Complete valuesCreating something that staff, players, learners, parents, and partners can recognise and believe inRespecting the memories of the old identity while being excited to create new onesFor us, this isn’t about forgetting where we’ve come from. It’s about taking everything we’ve learned, everything we’ve built, and everything Complete stands for — and creating an identity that represents the next chapter. Because a brand isn’t just your colours, your logo, or your website. Your brand is what you stand for. Respect the past. Evolve the identity. Create new memories. One drive at a time. 🚗💭⚽

🎙️ Deep Dive Drive – Episode 84: When the Buzz Comes Back

In this episode of Deep Dive Drive, recorded on my morning commute, I talk about something that every coach, manager, and leader will experience at some point in their journey: When the buzz comes back. After stepping away from my role at Frimley Green, I spent time reflecting on what I wanted next, what motivated me, and what sort of environment I wanted to be a part of. Then an opportunity came along that just felt right — the chance to become First Team Manager at Camberley Town F.C.. And suddenly, the buzz was back. In this episode, I talk about: Why it’s important to listen to yourself when making big decisionsRecognising when your energy and passion returnThe excitement of starting a new challengeReturning to a club that has played such a big part in my football journeyThe balance between emotion, opportunity, and responsibility when taking on a new roleCamberley Town is a club that means a lot to me personally. It’s where my journey began as a young player, progressing through the youth teams, reserves, and first team. So to return in a leadership position brings a real sense of excitement, pride, and purpose. This episode is about recognising those moments in life when something just feels right. When the motivation returns. When the ideas start flowing. When you’re excited about what’s ahead. Because sometimes, after a period of reflection, you realise you haven’t lost the passion — you’ve just been waiting for the right opportunity to reignite it. New challenge. Fresh energy. The buzz is back. One drive at a time. 🚗⚽🔥

🎙️ Deep Dive Drive – Episode 81: Is Social Media Hurting the Game… or Preserving the Memories?

In this episode of Deep Dive Drive, recorded on my morning commute, I explore a topic that divides opinion across modern football: Is social media hurting the game… or is it actually preserving the memories that make it special? From highlight clips and matchday photos to behind-the-scenes moments and player interviews, social media has completely changed the way we experience football. Some believe it creates pressure, distraction, and a focus on image. Others see it as a powerful way to capture journeys, celebrate progress, and build community. In this episode, I talk about: The positives and negatives of social media within footballHow content can inspire, connect, and motivate playersThe pressure that visibility can place on young athletesWhy preserving memories and moments has real valueThe responsibility coaches and clubs have when using platforms onlineThis episode isn’t about saying social media is good or bad.  It’s about understanding the impact it has — and using it with purpose. Because years from now, those photos, videos, and moments become part of the journey. They tell stories. They capture memories. They preserve experiences that players and families will look back on forever. If you’re a coach, parent, player, or club, this episode will challenge you to think about how social media is shaping the game around you. Use it wisely. Capture the journey. One drive at a time. 🚗📱
