    "Housing impacts the entire community" - One of the final thoughts from Claire de Souza, who I was fortunate enough to chat with recently regarding her role as the Town's Housing Development Coordinator. Affordable housing is an issue that impacts communities across Canada, and Collingwood is no different. While low income housing is developed in collaboration with Simcoe County, Claire's main driver is trying to find solutions that help middle income earners find an affordable home and put down roots in Collingwood.     Soup's On! With Rhonda Day

    If you've been around Collingwood in the last few years, chances are you may have seen the Mobile Soup Kitchen van parked all over town, we've certainly seen it at the Library. Maybe you've wondered what they're all about? Well wonder no more. The Mobile Soup Kitchen is a grass roots, volunteer powered initiative founded by Rhonda Day to help fill the gaps for the food insecure people in our area. As the demand for this type of service has unfortunately grown since its founding, so too has Rhonda and her team's resolve to help. With a growing contingent of volunteers eager to make a difference, the Mobile Soup Kitchen continues to help people every day, from keeping them fed, to connecting them with laundry services and more.  Tune in to learn more about Rhonda the person, as well as her journey to starting a community service so impactful it's earned her accolades, awards and even a guest spot on CBC. Julia brings a wealth of experience to her role as the Accessibility Coordinator and believes her work is never done as she continues to remove accessibility barriers throughout the town.     Humanizing The Homeless With Leah den Bok & Willie Baronet

    We were extremely fortunate that Leah and Willie were able to find time for us to sit down and have a chat about the Humanizing The Homeless project. Willie hails from Texas and was only here for a brief whirlwind trip through Ontario for his project in collaboration with Leah. Both Leah and Willie have largely dedicated their lives to raising awareness of our growing homelessness issue. Through their work they were able to find eachother and develop an incredibly moving, cooperative exhibit that showcases both of their individual approaches to raising awareness of the issue. While Leah's work focuses more on the individual through her incredible photography and storytelling abilities, Willie has acquired signs from unhoused individuals he's interacted with over two decades through his project "Signs of Humanity", creating a captivating gallery of messages that will move you.
