Is My Experience Valid? Labeling Sexuality

Is My Experience Valid? Labeling Sexuality

    TRIGGER WARNINGS: Sexuality

We don’t expect straight people to come out as straight to society yet we expect anyone who doesn’t identify in that way to do so. Knowing that they would be the people that society is more likely to judge and shame for not being “like everyone else.” So many people don’t have to give a second thought to their sexuality that when someone does, the experience can be really unsettling. Especially if that experience doesn’t look how other people in similar situations have looked. Feeling different is one thing, feeling different amongst a group that is already looked at as different can be a whole different animal. Taylor bravely shares her experience of learning about her sexuality in this week's episode.

Taylor is recently married, living in the central MN area with her husband, 2 dogs and hamster. She’s been a full time nanny for about 4.5 years and coaches volleyball during the winter and spring seasons.

Weighted Expectations: Exploring Multigenerational Beauty Standards

    TRIGGER WARNINGS: Body Image, rape

Can you identify the biggest influence for how you learned how your body was and wasn’t supposed to look like? For Jessica, that answer was easy. Family. The discussion of what privileges traditional beauty can offer a woman were common within her household while growing up. When looking at the historical context of her family, for good reason too. What impact does that have on a person growing up in a world where the size and shape of your body is so clearly labeled as “good” or “bad”, “desirable” or “undesirable”? Tune in to hear Jessica’s story of one such experience.

Jessica is a LCSW that offers psychotherapy services in California. Jessica specializes in assisting parents and couples improve their relationships with themselves and others. Services focus on self-compassion, mindfulness, and connecting with one's identity as it evolves through life transitions and stages. In addition to therapeutic work, Jessica provides consulting, workshop facilitation, and public speaking, as well as resources to support self-care and self-paced learning.

Charting a Course Beyond Religious Norms

Charting a Course Beyond Religious Norms

Humans were not made to fit into tiny boxes. We were not all made to be the same. And there’s more to all of us and our experiences than what meets the eye. Jennifer Brown knows that better than most. As someone who was able to see things that other people couldn’t from a young age, she knew that there had to be something bigger than what the mainstream culture and religion was teaching. After reaching her own breaking point, Jennifer leaned into her experiences and focused on self-acceptance, rather than trying to make herself fit what she thought she was supposed to be. Jennifer discusses Christianity, energy healing, small town life, and having to work to find your people.

Jennifer is a seasoned intuitive healer, energy worker, and spiritual guide. With expertise in Akashic Records reading and Past Life Regression, and a degree in Ecology & Field Biology, she seamlessly blends grounded wisdom with spiritual insight. Dedicated to providing support, Jennifer particularly resonates with individuals exploring a fresh perspective on spirituality and questioning the conventional narratives they've been taught. Her mission is to make transformative practices like meditation and energy healing available and relatable, inviting everyone to connect with their own personal journey of self-healing and inner guidance.
